Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

We’re able to confirm the decision to do Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam was made on Monday prior to the start of this week’s WWE Raw. The original plan was to do Roman Reigns vs. Rollins for the new belt but Vince McMahon changed his mind several times and kept the final decision close to his vest.

By the time word started to trickle down that Balor would be the guy, it seemed as though a decision was made during the airing of this week’s Monday Night Raw. However, we are able to confirm it was scripted for Balor to go over prior to the start of the show. When it began to became common knowledge, there was a lot of surprise and some believed the decision was made when WWE was live on the USA Network.

Triple H feels that Finn Balor is an instant success and that he helps validate the work Hunter has done in WWE NXT. It was Triple H that was pushing Finn Balor hard to get the nod over Roman Reigns.
