While Daniel Bryan has ultimately accepted his need to retire (for now), there is a similar situation brewing in WWE, although not at the same level.
Tyson Kidd continues to rehabilitate his neck injury in hopes of returning to the ring, but WWE officials have been very resistant to the idea of clearing him to wrestle again. No decisions have been made yet and it's still too early to make a final decision anyway, but WWE's medical staff has advised the company that he may never be cleared to wrestle again while Tyson is absolutely determined to return to the ring.
Bryan was determined to return as well, but ultimately accepted the risk was too great.
With WWE refusing to take the risk with a top talent like Daniel Bryan, it’s even less likely they’d take the risk for Tyson Kidd, who has yet to eclipse midcard status.
