It's been a dramatic weekend backstage in WWE leading into tonight's Survivor Series pay-per-view.

I'm told the finish for The Rock & John Cena vs. The Miz & R-Truth has literally changed about "80 times" in the last week. The first issue has been the most obvious - who is going over? When the script for Monday's Raw Supershow was approved, the finish was The Rock pinning R-Truth clean after hitting the Rock Bottom. There was then some flip-flopping from Vince McMahon by mid-week as he was in favor of R-Truth & The Miz going over due to The Rock & John Cena ultimately not being able to co-exist.

The reasoning behind R-Truth & The Miz going over the powerhouse team of Rock and Cena was that the team of Awesome Truth will be remaining a team and could use the boost after being made to look like job guys the last few weeks. The feeling behind this is a loss wouldn't hurt Cena and The Rock because they weren't able to get along. However, the issue is - who takes the pin? I'm told the writers have not been told preliminary plans for the finish of John Cena vs. The Rock at Wrestlemania XXVIII so it's hard for them to know what is going to make Vince McMahon happy. McMahon is adamant that Cena is not going heel, however, the writers realize he's the heel in the program regardless of how it's booked.

Therefore on Monday the finish was The Rock pinning R-Truth and a few days later it was The Rock & John Cena losing but the issue was who was going to get pinned. Multiple tweaks have been made since both these scenarios. One observer close to the writing team tells me it has to be "amazingly frustrating," trying to use a match to setup Wrestlemania when they are not clued in on preliminary plans for Wrestlemania.
