SummerSlam 2015

While there are still a couple of pay-per-views in between, most of the top matches for SummerSlam have been settled upon, although everything in WWE is in pencil this far out. The top matches slated for the show right now are:

- Brock Lesnar defending the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman

- Triple H vs. Kurt Angle for control of Monday Night Raw

- John Cena vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship

- Roman Reigns taking on Samoa Joe

WWE is very pleased with how Samoa Joe has gotten over in recent weeks and there have been pitches to turn Lesnar vs. Strowman into a triple threat match with Samoa Joe added in, but so far Vince McMahon prefers a singles match for the Universal Title at SummerSlam. Regardless, Joe will be featured somewhere at the top of the card, unlike WrestleMania. Speaking of which, WWE is still interested in doing Joe vs. Cena at any point. As you may remember, that bout was on tap for WrestleMania 33 until they went with the proposal angle.

As for how Lesnar vs. Strowman would be set up, the plan is for Strowman vs. Roman Reigns at Great Balls of Fire to serve as a number one contender's match. Obviously this is going to be an interesting situation to watch after Reigns announced on Raw that he will be the one challenging for Raw's top title at SummerSlam.

Some are denying the fact that Angle vs. Triple H is planned for the big summer event, but I've now heard from two sources that this has been the plan since the Angle/Corey Graves storyline began.

Looking towards the future - WWE is very interested in Cena vs. Reigns at some point, but the plan still stands for Reings to challenge Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. I've also heard they want Cena vs. Finn Balor to be done before they get to Balor vs. Lesnar. At what point these main events would take place remains to be seen, but 2018 may be a real possibility.
