As happy as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were with how the Mae Young Classic tapings turned out, there was some disappointment with a few of the female competitors. Triple H commented to some of the coaches that he couldn't believe the bad attitude that some of the independent veterans had that were brought in. The in ring work of some was also considered to be well below the standard expected.

Not only was the finish to the Marti Belle vs. Rachael Evers match changed in the middle of the match, with Evers being told to cradle Belle by the referee despite the planned finish being a Marti Belle victory, but Belle was actually supposed to beat Abbey Laith in the next round, before eventually losing to Mercedes Martinez in the quarterfinals.

While several of the unsigned female wrestlers who lost early in the tournament are expected to be given more opportunities in the fall, the company has soured on Marti Belle to the point that she's been removed from the list of women who will be given another look in September.
