There has been a lot of talk within WWE since the terrorist attacks in Paris about changing Roman Reigns’s ring attire and entrance. Vince McMahon ultimately decided not to change it and then talk heated up again after the attack in California.
Some in the company worry that if attacks of this nature continue, the idea of a guy wearing tactical gear and emerging from behind the crowd may not be the best image, especially for a top babyface. For now, it doesn’t seem like the fans or media have made much of a connection, so WWE is taking a “wait and see” approach.
We’re told Vince felt it would be a knee-jerk overreaction to switch up Roman so drastically at a time when they’re finally hoping to cement him as the top babyface. It’s understood why some in the company were worried, especially with Survivor Series being rumored as a terrorist target, but Vince has support from close observers. The feeling is the average fan doesn’t realize why Roman dresses like he does or understands that it’s tactical gear like what would be used in a sneak attack.
