As of today, WWE has their plans in place for The Royal Rumble, as well as the top matches for WrestleMania. If you remember correctly WWE has been going back and forth for a few weeks between Nakamura, Cena, and Finn Balor. It looks as though, and obviously anything can change as this is WWE, that those plans have progressed.
WWE is now headed in the direction of John Cena NOT to win the Rumble but to wrestle the Undertaker. Vince thinks Taker can go one more time and has always wanted to do Cena vs. Taker.
So where does this leave a Rumble Winner? Well, the new current plan is for Finn Balor to win the Rumble and then challenge not Brock Lesnar, but AJ Styles at WrestleMania for the title. This then frees up Roman Reigns to challenge Brock Lesnar on the Raw side. I like the logic behind the booking, not only will this play off of the previous AJ and Finn match but also the new Balor Club angle. It also makes sense from a Raw standpoint that Brock would need an opponent for WrestleMania.
Below are the top planned matches for WrestleMania as of this writing:
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
John Cena vs. The Undertaker
AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor
Braun Strowman vs. Triple H
(originally the plan was Hunter vs. Angle which was changed)
Over the week we will give you the plans for NXT going into the Royal Rumble, and how they fit into WrestleMania.
