We are able to confirm that TNA Wrestling has been “going all out” to get Alberto Del Rio on the premiere episode of Impact on Destination America. Sources report they’ve been pulling out all the stops to have him debut on Wednesday night.
As we reported here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com Premium, TNA offered a yearly contract to Del Rio in the range of $500,000. However, Del Rio is not willing to break his commitments with Ring of Honor and wants to keep his options open MMA wise, so he’s turned down all their offers.
We’re told the only way Del Rio accepts a TNA deal is if they agree to a deal where he can still work wherever he wants.
Obviously this would be incredible if TNA would allow for a guy to work for them, appear on ROH TV and possibly do MMA as well.
So far, TNA has not been willing to budge and have refused to offer a non-exclusive deal. Del Rio has also remained firm in that he doesn’t want to sign an exclusive deal.
One source noted the fact that TNA is still going after him means they are at least considering it but it sure doesn't seem likely, given the dangerous precedent that would be set for future contract negotiations.
