We're told negotiations between Bill Goldberg and WWE continue as 2013 draws near a close. The two sides are very close on money but the hangup still has to do with Goldberg's opponent. While it had been a foregone conclusion that Goldberg would face Ryback at Wrestlemania XXX if a deal got done, things are beginning to change.
Not only is Ryback still in the WWE doghouse but sources close to Goldberg indicate that even he is questioning why he would come in to put over a guy that has been "losing left and right." So unless WWE re-starts on Ryback in a major way, Goldberg would now prefer a different opponent.
There has been in an alternative internally pitched. That plan would call for The Shield to split before Wrestlemania XXX and give Roman Reigns a major singles push. He would then go on to be a guy that would face Goldberg at the show next year. While that's been the talk within WWE, we're told it has not been presented to Goldberg as of press time. Remember Goldberg has issues with how he is booked and while he doesn't mind "doing the honors," he's been reluctant to accept a role that would call for him to be the heel.
