While next weekend in scheduled to be Lio Rush's final independent appearances before heading to WWE, with Lio's last independent match set for August 12, WWE continues to do background research on Rush, as they do with all new talent coming into the company. While there are often reports about the thorough and time consuming medical screening process that can take weeks or even months, what isn't mentioned as often is the personality and character studies done, not unlike what professional sports teams do in the lead up to the draft.

There is some trepidation about Rush's attitude, with the feeling being that he isn't as open to critique and advice as WWE prefers, especially when dealing with young talent (Rush is only 22). WWE is very high on his physical skills and with Rush not being offered a big money deal, the feeling is that the company has little to lose if he doesn't adjust well to the intense WWE culture.
