WWE is considering slightly reducing the number of pay-per-views, while increasing the number of WWE Network specials like the show in Tokyo, Japan and the Brock Lesnar Madison Square Garden Show.

Nothing has been finalized but they're talking about six to seven WWE Network specials next year not including WWE NXT TakeOver. Under this plan, they would scale back to 10 or 11 pay-per-views.

The goal is to add shows without it feeling like over-saturation but critics will accurately question the difference between a pay-per-view and a network special when they're both featured on the WWE Network. WWE knows the best way to sell the network is by live original programming.
