WWE was urged by their legal counsel to re-sign Tyson Kidd despite the fact they do not believe he'll ever be cleared to wrestle again. So he has signed a contract extension when the original plan was to let him go when his contract came up (which was believed to be next month). The advice from legal had to do with the neck injury Kidd suffered in a dark match prior to an episode of Monday Night Raw against Samoa Joe. The injury is still considered to be a career-ending situation.
WWE worked with Kidd to get a new deal together but kept everything as quiet as possible as they didn't want any issues of a problem leaking to the public. Kidd also didn't want any public perception of discord between WWE and himself or Natalya.
