Preliminary Plans For WWE SummerSlam - Daniel Bryan's Next Opponent, Who Triple H Wants To Work, Return Of Brock Lesnar
We've been able to uncover some preliminary discussions for this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view. However, these plans were thrown around before Daniel Bryan's neck surgery, something we should get more clarification on at this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.
Initial estimates have Bryan back in time for SummerSlam, if not Battleground, so his injury should not alter plans. But as with anything on the creative end, plans are subject to change. The purpose of this report is to gain insight into the current mindset behind-the scenes.
The discussions we heard (before news of Bryan's surgery), were as follows:
- Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
- Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
- Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro
While we didn't hear of a plan for John Cena, we heard rumblings of a possible program with Sheamus after his blowoff with the Wyatts.
Once again, these are all preliminary ideas, but Reigns is the guy Triple H wants at SummerSlam and Lesnar vs. Cesaro is something the company wants to do at some point. SummerSlam may end up being too soon, however, this was the direction a couple of weeks ago.
