WWE Rosters Set, Real Fight Breaks Out In Locker Room, What Lesnar Tested Positive For (WWE Also Considers It A Banned Substance), Much More

- The 2016 WWE Draft is in the books and the rosters for Raw and Smackdown are set. There’s a lot to discuss but we’re told the rosters weren’t finalized until the latter part of Tuesday evening just prior to going live on the USA Network. Roman Reigns (Raw) and John Cena (Smackdown) are on different brands but note that Dean Ambrose (Smackdown) and Seth Rollins (Raw) are as well.

- It’s interesting to see AJ Styles (Smackdown) and Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows (Raw) have been split so quickly but we’re told once the call was made not to split The New Day or Big Cass & Enzo Amore, they had to be split. Braun Strowman (Raw) was split from Bray Wyatt (Smackdown) & Erick Rowan (Smackdown).

- Finn Balor is officially a main roster Superstar and is one of the top names we’ll be heavily monitoring from this point forward. For those that missed it, he was drafted to Raw.

- The plan for Enzo Amore & Big Cass and The New Day to remain on the same show (Raw) is a change from a plan last week that had them going to different shows. Remember, it was believed Amore and Cass were going to usher in the second set of tag titles. Maybe WWE got cold feet on introducing a second set of title belts but that was definitely changed.

- Once again you can recap all of the draft moves at this link. For reader reaction and complete Smackdown Live results, including Dean Ambrose retaining the WWE Championship over Seth Rollins, click here.

- Sin Cara and Simon Gotch were involved in a real-life altercation backstage at catering at Smackdown Live in Worcester, MA. I’ve heard varying details as to what exactly happened but we’re being told Cara “won the fight handily.” The PWInsider website was first to report and they deserve credit for breaking it.

- The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Brock Lesnar’s drug tests on June 28 and July 9 identified the banned substance clomiphene. Our readers should be familiar with this by now as it is one of two drugs found in the samples of Jon Jones, who was pulled from UFC 200, due to the anti-doping violation. Clomiphene is an estrogen-blocking substance and is also banned by WWE under their Wellness Policy. Lesnar was drafted to Raw on tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live and received heat from the live crowd.

- The next WWE Network paid subscribers count will come on July 28, 2016 when WWE reports its 2016 second quarter results prior to market open.

- WWE actually held a Draft party at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL, where the NXT roster watched the live Smackdown broadcast.

- Ryback noted on social media that his WWE Performer's Contract is up on August 8, 2016 or October 17, 2016, depending on certain circumstances.

So why wasn’t Lesnar removed from UFC 200 after the first failed test? I mean, aside from the obvious ($$$).

    • Lbolt187

They didn’t get the results back in time

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

I read that he had 8 tests before UFC, passed the first 5, then failed 2, still waiting on the 8th.

      • Vomkrieg

8 tests? That seems really crazy, but with all the efforts to avoid doping, and all the doping scandals, i guess it make sense

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

I might be wrong, I mean I don’t really follow UFC so I only have quick read, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it said.

          • Vomkrieg

I think you are right, its just how crazy intensive modern anti-doping operations are. But, based on recent events around the world, it still isn’t enough.

            Madness really

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

If it is 8, he passed the first 5, then failed 2. So those first 5 didn’t catch anything, I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE gives him a few now.

  • Dave Barton

Sorry to hear of Sin Cara & Simon Gotch duking it out in catering today. Rumor has it the two have since made up, and will now form a tag team known as “Simon Botch.”

    • Hector Vasquez

I think it started because Gotch did not like the way Sin Cara looked at him…go figure lol

      • Dave Barton

Please tell me Sin Cara was wearing his mask at the time (eyes covered, lol).

  • Shadowfox

This would be the best time to do a double turn with Rollins and Reigns. More money in doing that.

  • Mandy

I was really surprised when Enzo and Cass were chosen for RAW and not SD. It remains to be seen if this is a good idea or not.

I really want a double turn for Seth and Roman, the timing is perfect especially since its more than clear that those boos for Reigns are not over by a long shot even Booker talked about it.

    • Gotta feel sorry for Carmella. On the opposite brand to her boyfriend and I think them as a trio were great and while she had no solo identity down in NXT with them. With more time on Smackdown, that wouldn’t have been an issue.

      • Mandy

Many including myself wanted to see her reunite with Enzo and Cass but WWE obviously has other things planned for her. I think she will do well for herself on Smackdown, she has really improved and has a lot of potential.

  • James Larochelle

Sometimes it’s the little things that get ya…

The CWC is exclusive to Raw but Daniel Bryan, the Smackdown GM is doing the commentary (unless they wisely redo all the commentary for future episodes which I assume are all already done) so in essence, he’ll be hyping up his competition.

Speaking of the cruiserweight division, it gives a distinct identity to Raw. Smackdown has nothing to really set it apart. It’s just half the roster.

They made a big deal to say that Raw got three picks for every two of Smackdown’s…and then dropped the stip after the first non-televised round of picks.

The idea for Raw getting more picks is they have more time to fill…but they’re already getting more talent due to the cruiserweight division. Anybody moving up from the CWC will be going to Raw, no?

  • amaanakter

I don’t know what to think really, obviously Raw has a stronger roster because of being a three hour show but that’s could be a curse instead of a blessing in the sense that if that extra hour is taken up by the actual talent then fair enough great! But if it’s more tension and friction between Stephanie and Mick then that’s rubbish! And will detrimentally affect the talent involved!

  • carlycane

I’m not surprised Sin Cara won the fight. If I remember correctly he won the fight against Sheamus too, so……

  • Hector Vasquez

so what happens to The Undertaker?

  • David F

WWE needs to take Brock off SummerSlam now and find Randy Orton a new opponent maybe AJ Styles? WWE needs to find something for Heyman to do because he is too valuable to sit at home and do nothing

    • I was thinking Kevin Owens and Orty could be amazing!

  • ldb

come on the red dragon went undrafted. he is now the hottest free agent in all of sports and sports entertainment.!

    • The Bops

I guess that was for the moderate comedy at the end of the post-draft show, which actually completed the draft. He’ll go somewhere. He’s too loved by his coworkers.
Too bad Sandow was released… He would’ve been a good 4th for the Outcasts – but that point is moot anyway.
