New night! New channel! New champions??? With two championship matches on the card, let's see if this live version of Smackdown is Slammy-worthy, or an end-of-the-year dud.

We don't have to wait long, as tonight's opening match is The New Day vs. The Lucha Dragons for the Tag Team titles. Kofi Kingston opens the match for The New Day, and eats a whole lotta kicks and splashes from both Sin Cara and Kalisto. Kingston makes the tag to Big E, who plays the bully role to the much-smaller Kalisto. With the Lucha Dragons firmly in control, Xavier Woods decides to hold trombone practice, distracting Sin Cara and allowing Kofi to hit the cheap shot and gain the upper hand heading into the commercial break. We return from the break exactly where we left off. Kalisto hits three or four high-flying moves taking both Kofi and Big E out before Xavier pulls the ropes down, sending the masked man flying. Big E almost spears Kalisto through the ringside barrier before Kofi and Big E do their rotating series of kicks in the corner. Big E delivers a belly-to-belly suplex a little too hard as it actually sends Kalisto all the way to the other side of the ring where he can make the hot tag to Sin Cara. Oh no he did it again! Sin Cara goes for a through-the-rope dive onto Kofi and it misses badly, sending him onto his head. Kalisto hits the Salida del Sol on Big E, but another Xavier distraction prevents the pin and allows Big E to recover and hit the Big Ending on Sin Cara for the win.

To borrow a line from Rudolph, I think we found the island of misfit tag team partners. In eight-man tag team action, we've got the whole Wyatt Family facing Ryback, Kane, and the Dudley Boyz. A relatively uneventful back-and-forth start to the match until Strowman enters and orders Bubba Ray to tag Kane into the match. Strowman gains the upper-hand on Kane, and one-by-one the Wyatts take their turn landing shots on the Big Red Machine. Kane makes the hot tag to Ryback who runs through Luke Harper with the meathook clothesline, setting him up for Shellshock. Rowan reaches over the ropes to grab Harper off Ryback's shoulders as we head into commercial. When we return, the match quickly breaks down as Kane clotheslines Strowman to the outside, but Strowman recovers to send Kane into the ring post. Rowan tackles Ryback over the barricade and Harper superkicks D-Von on the outside, leaving Bray Wyatt alone in the ring with Bubba Ray. A clothesline from behind leads to Sister Abigail and the pin for the Wyatt Family.

Apparently the Cosmic Wasteland is ruining Christmas?! Stardust and The Ascension ruin Santino's Christmas party decorations in the backstage area before Neville and Titus O'Neil step in to confront them. Later tonight, we'll have a tag team match to see if Titus and Neville can save Christmas.

We've got out third tag team match to open the show as the Uso's take on Rusev and Alberto Del Rio from the League of Nations. Fun, entertaining match with a crappy ending. Del Rio works the majority of the match for the League of Nations, and he actually works really well with both Uso's. But the finish is poorly scripted/executed as Jey Uso and Del Rio tangle at the top rope, Del Rio blocks Uso's suplex attempt, and tries to head-butt him off. Instead of hopping off the top rope, Uso ever-so-conveniently drops himself onto the middle rope for Del Rio's stomping finisher and the win. If Del Rio is going to keep using that as a finisher, they're going to have to think of a few more ways of getting opponents into position because this one didn't work. After the match, Sheamus tries to rally another beating of the Uso's, but Roman Reigns makes the save taking each member of the League of Nations out one-by-one.

To no one's surprise, Neville and Titus O'Neil officially save Christmas! The Ascension take control of the match early before setting their sight on Santino on the outside. The three of them menacingly surround the Cobra before Neville dives over the top rope, knocking all three heels out (see how that's done, Sin Cara?!). O'Neil delivers a huge boot to Viktor, setting Neville up for the Red Arrow and the pin.

In tonight's only singles match, we've got Brie Bella vs. Charlotte, but the real action happens between Michael Cole and Becky Lynch at ringside. Cole continues to press Becky on her relationship with Charlotte and how far she's willing to stoop to Flair's tactics to continue winning. Team B.A.D. strolls down to the ring and dumps a cup of eggnog on Becky's head, right as Charlotte is about to lock in the Figure 8. Instead of leaving the ring to help Becky in a three-on-one situation, Charlotte finishes the match and picks up the win as Team B.A.D. walks away unscathed.

In tonight's main event, Dean Ambrose defends his Intercontinental title in a triple-threat match against Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler. The match lasts about 10 seconds into the ring before spilling to the outside and up to the Christmas-themed stage. Owens goes for a powerbomb on Ambrose on the top of the stage, but Ziggler interrupts with a superkick. Ambrose and Ziggler then team up to toss Owens thru a Christmas tree and a bunch of presents. After some good back-and-forth action by all parties, with Ziggler knocked out on the outside, Owens suplexes Ambrose directly onto his head. The ref briefly stops action to make sure that Ambrose is okay. Ambrose recovers and sets Owens up for Dirty Deeds, Ziggler sneaks back in and delivers the Zig Zag on Ambrose at the same time that Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Owens. Ziggler superkicks Owens out of the ring, but walks right into Dirty Deeds from Ambrose who covers him for the pin. Ambrose retains his title and Owens destroys some presents.
