Live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The show opened with SCU making their way out to the ring but was attacked on the ramp by the Lucha Bros. Scorpio Sky ran out for the save to Daniels and Kazarian. The referee threw up the X after Daniels was hit by a pile driver. Sky begged to take Daniels place and the referee agreed.
SCU (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian) defeated The Best Friends in Round One of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament
Ryan’s Thought: A fast paced match that went about 12 minutes. Best Friends worked the lower back of Kazarian and this was a showcase match for Sky, who replaced Daniels. Good match overall and didn’t expect SCU to go out so soon. Then again, I didn’t expect the Bucks to lose last week either.
Santana and Ortiz defeated Enhancement Talent
Ryan’s Thought: Quick and easy showcase of what the formerly known LAX is capable of. The match may have lasted less than five minutes, but good for what it was. They had offense the entire time.
Backstage, Jericho said that’s the reason why they’re in the Inner Circle and called them pit bulls. He said they want to defeat the Young Bucks in a tag team challenge at Full Gear in Baltimore on November 9th.
A video packaged aired of Cody Rhodes and his thoughts on his AEW World Championship match against Chris Jericho. Interviews involved, Dallas Page, MJF, Brandi, his mom, and more.
Riho defeated Britt Baker to retain the AEW Women’s Championship
Ryan’s Thought: A decent match that the live crowd ate up and loved. The women’s division is the only weakness I can think of when it comes to AEW, but I’m sure they will capitalize.
The Lucha Bros defeated Jurassic Express to advance in the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament
Ryan’s Thought: Luchasaurus was removed from the match as an injury report came out earlier in the day, so Marko Stunt took his spot with Jungle Boy. Great back and forth between both teams and match of the night thus far. Lucha Bros advance
Kenny Omega and Adam Page defeated PAC and Jon Moxley
Ryan’s Thought: Holy shit, what a match. Mox hit PAC with a DDT and walked out that allowed Omega and Page to pick up the win after PAC wouldn’t allow Mox to hit Omega with the barbed wire bat. If you have a chance to see this, I highly recommend.
Chris Jericho defeated Darby Allin to retain the AEW World Championship in a Philadelphia Street Fight
Ryan’s Thought: An okay match that really didn’t pick up until Jericho taped Darby’s hands behind his back. Jake Hager got involved to help Jericho pick up the win.
Overall a good show that had some lows in the women’s match. They need to work on the division, but other than that a good show all across the board.
