In an interview conducted by Jonathan Coachman on ESPN, Alexa Bliss opened up about her troubled childhood when she had a terrifying eating disorder that nearly claimed her life on two separate occasions. On one occasion, she noted, she was hospitalized and told that she had 24 hours to live. She had to stay awake because if she fell asleep, she would end up going into cardiac arrest.
Bliss said that she is much happier in her own skin now and said she would rather have her curves and strength rather than be 80 pounds and in the frail condition she was in at the time. She hoped to raise awareness of eating disorders by being so open about it and letting young girls know that they don't have to look like the models featured in magazines to be considered beautiful.
