John Cena addressed the "going Hollywood" rumors with JBL and Renee Young on this week’s episode of Talking Smack that was recorded immediately after this week’s episode of Smackdown.

On the show, Cena stated the people that think he’s washed up and already gone just fuel the fire in him. The wrestling industry is Cena’s life because he’s made it his life. He’s yet to defeat WWE Champion AJ Styles but he’s really good at not giving up. Cena said he’s not focused on becoming a 16-time world champion but more focused on earning back the respect he feels he needs to earn.

While a lot of that is kayfabe, here’s the scoop on Cena. John will be 40 years old in April and knows he’s not going to wrestle forever. He knows his star isn’t going to get brighter than it is right now unless he establishes himself in Hollywood like The Rock did so he’s taking advantage of outside opportunities. From speaking with people that know John, we’re under the assumption that John feels WWE takes his loyalty for granted at times by assuming he’ll always be there for the big events, while they go out and spend big money on people like Goldberg. It’s not that John has anything against Goldberg, it’s that he knows he has more mainstream opportunities than not only Goldberg but just about anyone connected with WWE other than The Rock. He believes he has earned the respect to take advantage of outside opportunities and he has greatly decreased his commitments with WWE. As we have previously reported, the days of Cena working the full-time WWE schedule are likely over. Vince McMahon understands all of this and is still very high up on him. Check out what Vince recently tweeted about him:

Cena proved this week he’s still WWE’s top draw with Smackdown beating Raw in average viewership.
