CM Punk was on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Wednesday to discuss his transition from WWE to UFC. Below are some notes:
Punk said he didn’t like the answer he gave previously when comparing Vince McMahon and Dana White. Punk talked about both being driven and having an idea what’s best for their respective companies. He said Vince is more old school, while Dana is more open minded. Punk said there is more warmth on the UFC side than he’s experienced.
Punk reiterated he’s most comfortable with his ground game but knows the journey to get ready for his first fight [in UFC next year] won’t be easy.
He said the irony isn’t lost on him regarding his situation [coming to UFC with no fighting experience], compared to part-timers coming back to WWE for main event spots. Punk said negativity from certain UFC fighters will fuel him. He’s doing what’s good for him and his family and hopes to change people’s minds when he fights.
Punk talked about being very good at using negativity to fuel him to prove people wrong.
