For those that missed it on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan announced he is medically cleared to compete and will make his in-ring return in the 30-man Royal Rumble match at the pay-per-view next month.
You can watch highlights of Bryan’s announcement on Raw at this link or you can watch in the video embedded below:
If Bryan is healthy, the best creative plan is to put him over in the Rumble match and have him face and defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 31. I could write thousands of words proving why this should be but it almost goes without saying. Bryan was primed to take the brass ring and become the next “face of WWE” before neck/nerve injuries sidelined him for more than half of 2014.
WWE has a golden opportunity to pass the torch from Brock to Bryan and it’s better than any other scenario and that includes Roman Reigns. While Reigns has the potential to be “the guy,” Daniel Bryan has proved superiority and this opportunity is a no-brainer. Not only will Bryan over Brock give him the burning torch going forward but it will also tell the story of total redemption and correct the error at this year’s Royal Rumble.
Royal Rumble 2015 will take place Sunday, January 25, 2015 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. We’ll have complete coverage here at WrestlingNewsWorld.com.
