Daniel Bryan Removed From WWE Shows

On Sunday prior to Extreme Rules, Daniel Bryan was removed from the official show listings for the pay-per-view, this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw and Tuesday’s Smackdown tapings.

WWE then announced he was medically unable to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Bad News Barrett at Extreme Rules and Barrett would face Neville on the Kickoff.

It’s unknown why WWE didn’t just cancel the match earlier in the week as there seemed to be very little optimism he’d actually be able to work the pay-per-view on Sunday. WWE did continue to promote the bout until the last minute but noted it depended on the results of diagnostic testing.

Questions about what exactly is ailing Daniel Bryan remain. While we heard from a source outside of WWE that it was a head injury, there continues to be concern/speculation about his neck/nerve situation that sidelined him for the better part of 2014.

Bryan hasn’t worked since the April 14, 2015 Smackdown taping in London, England but is on the official show listings for this weekend's live events. Despite that, I would consider him "doubtful" until further notice.
