Daniel Bryan, who is currently out indefinitely, has not had surgery on his elbow. At one point surgery was scheduled but canceled so doctors could run more tests.
According to Bryan, doctors wanted to take the nerve from along his elbow and put it under his forearm muscle. This, after he failed to regain strength in his arm following a cervical foraminotomy in May.
It was rumored in August the elbow procedure that Bryan needed was actually Tommy John surgery or ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction.
Following the silly side story of Daniel Bryan as a "serial adulterer" in the Brie Bella/Stephanie McMahon program, all has been quiet on the storyline front for Bryan. Triple H reiterated his "B+ player" status in his kayfabe interview a couple of weeks ago. WWE had Bryan on the official show listings for their upcoming European tour in November but later pulled him.
At this point a timetable for Bryan's return remains unknown but it was understood if he needed elbow surgery that he would be out at least another 3 months. Since he has not had the surgery, it's certainly possible he could return by the end of the year, however, far from confirmed.
