ESPN published a new article on Monday with quotes from Finn Balor. In it, he discussed a number of topics including the shape of his shoulder and whether or not he would be returning to WWE as a surprise entrant in next year’s Royal Rumble match. Below is one excerpt:
"You know, that's obviously a huge rumor, and I would never be one to fuel the rumor mills," he said with a smile, referencing the Royal Rumble rumor. "But to be a surprise entrant in the Rumble would be a huge moment for me. I'm sure it would create quite a buzz," he said. "But right now with the condition my shoulder is in, I'm not willing to risk sustaining any more long-term injury, just for the sake of two or three weeks. Since I got hurt, it was six months [out]. The target was to be back for WrestleMania. Everything's on plan, everything's on schedule.”

Balor tore his labrum at SummerSlam in a singles match against Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship. The timing could not have been worse as the plan was to push Balor as the face of Raw prior to the injury. WWE will look to restart on him next year.
