It’s back to work for WWE as they’ll hold tonight’s Raw from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This is a special situation as the company will hold both Raw and Smackdown on back-to-back days this week, similar to how they tape TV when they are in Europe.
Dot com looks at the following points in their preview of tonight’s WWE Raw:
- Who will face Braun Strowman’s wrath?
- Can Chris Jericho overcome his fear of heights before Royal Rumble?
- Is Bayley our next Raw Women’s Champion?
- Will Neville’s callous new attitude continue to pay off?
- How will Enzo Amore & Big Cass retaliate against Rusev and Jinder Mahal?
It’ll be interesting to see how this show performs against Smackdown Live in terms of viewership as WWE’s two top programs have been growing closer in weekly viewership. With Smackdown set to feature multiple title matches and the return of John Cena, this could be the week where Smackdown surpasses Raw for the first time as WWE’s most-watched show.
Breaking kayfabe, last week Vince McMahon had decided that Braun Strowman was going to get another push as an unstoppable monster. This is something he's gone back and forth on and loves his size, despite what he lacks in the ring.
Chris Jericho is considered an integral part in what WWE is doing right now and has completely revamped his status within the company at age 46.
It's 'all systems go' on Bayley as she's a personal favorite of Vince McMahon, who he believes has the potential to be the next AJ Lee.
WWE is hoping to recapture the success Neville had with WWE NXT years ago as it's never quite translated over to the main roster. They're hoping he can help to turn around the cruiserweight division, which has been seen as a big disappointment to date.
It certainly looks like Big Cass and Enzo Amore could challenge Rusev and Jinder Mahal in a tag match, based on promotional materials.
