Goldberg Announces Himself As 2017 Royal Rumble Entrant

Goldberg opened tonight’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw and announced himself as an entrant in the 30-man Royal Rumble match at January’s pay-per-view.

As the backdrop, Goldberg thanked the fans for the experience at Survivor Series to be Goldberg again. He said after he conquered ‘The Beast’ that is Brock Lesnar he ran into Stephanie McMahon. She asked him if he had one more title run left in him. He said he did and Stephanie told him the road to the title is through the Royal Rumble.

Therefore, Goldberg proclaimed that at Royal Rumble, everyone is next. You can watch video of the segment embedded below:

We know that Goldberg agreed to a deal to work Royal Rumble in the last 10 days or so with it becoming obvious when it was learned that he was going over Brock Lesnar. Vince McMahon wanted Goldberg to work Wrestlemania so it will be interesting to see if they get him on both Rumble and Wrestlemania 33 next year.

WWE issued the following statement on their official website about Goldberg in the Royal Rumble match:

TORONTO — The good news first, at least if you’re Goldberg: The former World Heavyweight Champion made good on that promise to beat up Brock Lesnar, dispatching The Conqueror in less than 90 seconds at Survivor Series. The bad news second, at least if you’re not Goldberg: It turns out he’s pretty flexible on that that whole “you’re last” thing. Goldberg intended to make good on his word and bid WWE farewell, but as soon as he walked through the curtain at Survivor Series, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon dangled the possibility of one more title run before the iconic Superstar. The quickest path to that goal? A spot in the 2017 Royal Rumble Match. That turned out to be an offer too good to refuse. In other words, he’s in, and 29 other Superstars just became “next.” Here we go …
