There has been a rumor making rounds for a week now that Luke Harper was taken off this week’s WWE television due to a “Luke Harper fan club” photo that Chris Jericho posted on Instagram. The photo in question was taken backstage at last Saturday’s WWE live event in Mexico City and featured Los Matadores, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Cesaro and Chris Jericho in “Yeah Yeah Yeah” Harper t-shirts. It was promptly removed by Jericho.
The immediate assumptions are that Harper garnered heat from Vince McMahon because the photo broke kayfabe, thus Vince opted to replace him with a returning Erick Rowan on Raw. That’s not the story I heard. I was told and reported here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com that Harper missed TV due to a personal issue. But since the rumors persist, we’ll include the photo in question below:
Once again, I can only report what I’ve been told. If Harper has heat over the photo, I wouldn't be shocked, but would consider it ridiculous. Former WWE creative team writer Kevin Eck blogged that Vince would be a hypocrite if it was the reason Harper was taken off TV. In his piece though, he detailed a ridiculous incident of a worker in WWE getting heat for “breaking kayfabe.” You can read that article at this link.
