In an interview with ESPN, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal was asked to respond to accusations that he is violating the wellness policy because of his sudden change in body physique. Mahal responded very simply:
"I've been tested plenty and never failed one."
Mahal went on to say that he worked hard to get this body that he now possesses and that Vince McMahon appreciates all the hard work he put into it. He also talked about when he was younger and used as a lower-card worker when his body was pretty average and notes that it also had a great deal of impact on his overall confidence.
When I train hard, I look better. I see the way I look on TV or in the mirror and it gives me confidence. It translates into the ring. I have more confidence and can be more aggressive. If you saw me from a few years ago, the confidence level is night and day, and that's because of the way I look. I know Vince appreciates wrestlers taking initiative, putting in the hard work. He had confidence in me. He knew I would embrace the opportunity and not let WWE down. I think I have been proving that in my matches ever since."
