From FedExForum in Memphis, TN
Report by Brooks Oglesby of WrestlingNewsWorld.com
Renee Young welcomes us to the WWE TLC Kickoff as fans file into the FedExForum. Tonight’s panelists are Booker T, Corey Graves & Byron Saxton.
Corey tells us to use #WWEFastlane to join the conversation. Renee then moves to the first discussion of the night: Can John Cena win the United States Championship from Rusev tonight? Corey thinks he can, but Byron is picking Rusev tonight. Booker brings up John Cena's reputation, but he's in for the test of a lifetime tonight. He says that Rusev is, in his opinion, unstoppable.
Renee then brings up Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan, with the winner going on to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. Corey says he correctly chose Reigns to win the Rumble, and he's picking him again. Booker says that Daniel Bryan has proven that he can work under the big lights that they'll be under tonight. Byron says that tonight is Reigns' chance to silence his critics.
The next topic is the Miz TV. Corey says that he usually mutes Miz TV, but he can't miss what Heyman has to say. Byron says Heyman's goal is to intimidate both Bryan and Reigns. Book says Heyman is going to spit some lyrics tonight. Renee then sends it to Tom Phillips in the Social Media Lounge.
Tom announces that he has an exclusive interview with The Usos, and the WWE Universe can use #AskUso for a chance to have their questions answered. Tom then sends it back to Renee and the panel.
Renee brings up the face-to-face confrontation between Triple H & Sting which will take place tonight. A promo airs detailing the buildup to this meeting. Renee asks what Sting is going to bring to the table tonight. Corey says he's on a mission, but he can't figure out what it is. Byron thinks Sting is targeting Triple H because of his comments on his interview with Michael Cole about the Monday Night Wars. He's trying to finish what WCW could not do. Booker says he was there in WCW and there during the Monday Night Wars, and he remembers that DX fired the first shot. He thinks Sting is probably still harboring feelings from that day. Renee asks what tonight means. Corey says that this is the first night that Triple H is prepared for Sting.
Renee then moved to Seth Rollins, who called out Jon Stewart, the host of The Daily Show, on Raw. Stewart's video response to Rollins' jab airs. Seth's response to Stewart airs next, in which Seth says that Stewart knows where to find him. Back at the panel, Booker says that it looks like Stewart was up all night writing that promo. Corey says that he hopes Stewart is watching tonight. Renee asks him to join them on the panel sometime.
Up next is a discussion of Dolph Ziggler, Ryback & Erick Rowan vs. Seth Rollins, Kane & The Big Show. Eden Stiles is backstage with Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan. Eden says that they've had targets on their backs for months. Ziggler says that tonight, victory means everything, because they represent everyone who doesn't fall into the Authority's vision. They're standing up for themselves. Ryback says what's really best for business is what the WWE Universe wants, and what they want to see is a victory for the three of them. Rowan says that they've been exiled and abused for the last time. The agents of the Authority will be expunged tonight.
Back at the panel, Renee asks if anyone can really ever beat the Authority. Corey says there is a way, and maybe one of the three guys have it figured out. Booker asks where this "band of brothers" go from here, given that they're still going to be under contract after this. He doesn't understand their mentality.
Renee notes that earlier, she got to catch up with Dean Ambrose. In a pretaped interview, Renee notes that Ambrose is hard to find. Ambrose says that the Intercontinental Championship isn't looked at the same way it was when he was a kid. It was held by people who delivered every night. It was the workhorse championship, and it was a stepping stone to greater things. He's the kind of guy who should be holding that championship. Even in The Shield, he was doing a lot of the dirty work while Roman Reigns got the glory. Renee then asks about Wade Barrett. Ambrose says that he's one of the toughest guys in the company. He says he'll fight Barrett anywhere. He'll meet him in the parking lot right now. Renee asks about what it would mean to enter WrestleMania as Intercontinental Champion. Ambrose says that, this time of year, everything gets intensified. There's no room to make mistakes. He believes that the the guy makes the championship, not the other way around. He says he's going to bust Barrett up tonight, and bring that championship higher than it's ever been.
Back at the panel, Booker says that Ambrose has what it takes to elevate that championship. Byron says that it's hard to predict Ambrose's gameplan, but Barrett has held the title multiple times. He's a proven commodity, but Booker notes that he's also injury-prone. Corey says that Ambrose is full-tilt. Nobody knows what's going through his mind. Barrett is as tough as nails, but he wants to see the title restored to glory, and as a fan, he wants to see Ambrose take the title tonight.
Renee then moves to The Usos vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro for the Tag Team Championship. Byron says that Kidd & Cesaro are highly talented, but they're tired of hearing about their potential. They want to finally achieve something. Booker says that he likes The Usos, but they've got a long way to go before truly making their mark in terms of legacy. Renee notes that we'll be speaking to The Usos later tonight.
Renee moves to Nikki Bella vs. Paige for the Divas Championship. In a taped interview from earlier today, Byron asks The Bella Twins for a word, and they cut him off. Nikki guesses that he wants to know how she's going to beat Paige tonight. Brie says that she's a bad example of what the Divas are, and Nikki says that, yes, they've been embarrassing Paige the past few weeks, but tonight she's going to do it in "her house," the ring. Back at the panel, Corey notes that Paige hasn't been on the main roster for a year and she's already held the Divas Championship twice, so she isn't to be underestimated.
A package detailing Rusev vs. John Cena for the United States Championship airs. Renee says that this is the main event tonight. Byron says Cena has been the target of numerous verbal attacks this month, and he thinks we're going to see a Cena we haven't seen before. Booker says that he's the guy who brought the U.S. Championship to WWE, so he has a vested interest in seeing how tonight plays out. Corey says that up until last week, he was "drinking the Kool-Aid" from Lana, but after last Monday, he thinks there's a lot of fight left in John Cena. Byron notes that he doesn't think we've seen the best of Rusev yet.
Back at the Social Media Lounge, Tom Phillips is with The Usos. The first question asks how excited both of them are for Rikishi being inducted?" The Usos ask if that's a real question. Of course they're excited! They're ecstatic. The next asks them what they consider the highlight of the career. They mention winning the Tag Team Championship two times, as well as dancing with Rikishi on Raw. The final question asks the biggest challenge they had growing up together. They say it involved sharing, and trying to one-up each other.
A clip is shown of Eva Marie and Cameron from earlier today on the red carpet ahead of the Academy Awards. A return vignette for Sheamus airs.
At ringside, Michael Cole, JBL & Jerry Lawler welcome us to the Kickoff. The Miz makes his entrance. Damien Mizdow, who receives a big pop when he comes out, is trailing behind. In the ring, Mizdow poses for the fans and gets another big pop. Miz angrily asks him what he's doing, and tells him that this show is for stars and their guests. He orders Mizdow to sit in the corner as the crowd chants "We want Mizdow!" The Miz then welcomes the crowd to Miz TV. He says he had to turn down an offer to present an award at the Academy Awards, because he wanted to witness Daniel Bryan take on Roman Reigns. Both Superstars get a mixed reaction from the crowd when Miz says their names. Without further ado, Miz welcomes Paul Heyman to the ring. They shake hands and take a seat. Miz asks if Brock Lesnar will be here tonight. Heyman says that that is an interesting question. He says that Miz is not as good an actor as he thinks he is, because Heyman knows how scared he is of Brock Lesnar. Heyman then announces that Lesnar is not here this evening. Miz says that he is a great actor, and he'll be winning an Oscar soon. Miz also notes that he has won in the main event of WrestleMania before. He asks Heyman who Lesnar would prefer to face at WrestleMania. Heyman understands why people might suggest that Bryan has a chance against Lesnar, because he knows how talented he is, but he can assure us that, in the event that Bryan wins, Lesnar will not be concerned.
Heyman then asks if Mizdow is with him. Miz says that he is his personal assistant. Heyman says that he doesn't like the way Mizdow is looking at him. Miz tells Mizdow to turn around and face the turnbuckle. Mizdow stands up and takes off his sunglasses, but eventually turns around and follows The Miz's directions. Miz then asks Heyman about Roman Reigns. Heyman says he knows Reigns' family, and he knows that Reigns was the badass of The Shield. He knows that, if Reigns wins tonight, he will lose to Brock Lesnar. Heyman abruptly stops as the "Mizdow" chants start to drown out his answer. He says that he'll start over again for the sake of the crowd, which he does. He then says that it does not matter whether Reigns or Bryan wins tonight, because that winner will be the loser at WrestleMania. Heyman and Miz shake hands and Heyman makes his exit.
Back at the panel, Renee previews Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan. A vignette featuring Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan airs. Corey thinks that Roman Reigns is on a mission tonight, so Bryan will not win tonight. Byron brings up a WWE.com poll asking who the WWE Universe would rather see face Lesnar at WrestleMania. Bryan won that poll by 64%, so Reigns is going to want to silence those critics tonight. Booker says he loves Bryan's attitude since returning, and his road back to the title starts tonight. Booker chooses Bryan to win, while Corey and Byron choose Reigns. Renee thanks us for watching to end the Kickoff.
