Welcome to the WWE Clash of Champions Kickoff! Renee welcomes us to the Kickoff panel alongside Lita, Booker T, and Jerry Lawler.
Tom Phillips is in the Social Media Lounge, where he announces that Sami Zayn will be joining him later in the Kickoff for a live Q&A. Use #WWEClash to talk about the show, and use #AskSami to send in questions.
The conversation moves to Rusev vs. Roman Reigns for the United States Championship. Booker T says you don't mess with a man's woman, but this is something Roman Reigns will have to deal with for weeks to come. Jerry says he thinks Roman is putting himself into the wrong situations. Lita argues that Roman has picked this spot, however. Jerry says he'd be saying nice things to Rusev from now on if he were Roman. Lita picks Roman to win, while Jerry picks Rusev. Booker says he has no idea what's on Roman's mind since losing the championship.
Charly Caruso is backstage with Sasha Banks. She asks Sasha what she's feeling ahead of her Women's Championship Match tonight. Sasha says she's been waiting over a month for this, and tonight, payback will punch Charlotte right in the face. She recognizes that this is a big night for Bayley, but it's not about Bayley tonight. Dana Brooke interrupts and says Sasha should be feeling fear, since Charlotte will finish what she started at SummerSlam and put her on the injured list. Sasha asks if her best friend told her to say that, the one who slapped her and makes her carry her bags. Sasha says she should watch who she messes with, or it'll be Dana on the injured list.
Back at the panel, they begin to discuss the Triple Threat Match for the Raw Women's Championship between Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Bayley. Booker says this is his Shucky Ducky Quack Quack Moment of the Night. Charlotte is at a disadvantage tonight, but she has what it takes to be a great champion. Lita says Bayley is a wild card tonight. Charlotte won a Triple Threat at WrestleMania, and that might give her the edge. Jerry says Sasha is either scared of Charlotte, or she's an idiot. The panel picks Charlotte to retain.
The conversation moves to Match 7 in the Best-of-7 Series between Cesaro and Sheamus. Sheamus joins them at the panel and says he doesn't feel the pressure. Getting in the ring is what it's all about for him. Cesaro is up there with Daniel Bryan as his toughest opponent ever. Booker says Sheamus had it in the bag, and some might say he dropped the ball. Sheamus thanks him for stating the obvious, and says he performs best under pressure. Jerry compliments Sheamus on injuring Cesaro's back on the ring post. Sheamus says he's aware of his back and his shoulder. He'll capitalize if the opportunity presents itself, just like how Cesaro used the ropes to his advantage.
Renee brings up the Cruiserweight Classic, and the upcoming Cruiserweight Championship between TJ Perkins and Brian Kendrick. Lita says TJ Perkins was never picked to win the Classic, and he did it. Booker says the Cruiserweight Division was a huge get for Raw, and they now have another marquee match every week on Raw. Jerry says not to underestimate Brian Kendrick.
The conversation moves to Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho. Jerry says this entire story is the story of Zayn being jealous of Kevin Owens. Booker says nobody cares who's going to be friends at the end of the night. Sometimes you have to go out there and put your own food on the table.
Sami Zayn joins Tom Phillips in the Social Media Lounge. The first question asks the highlight of Zayn's career so far. He says he's been pretty fortunate, and what comes to mind first is winning the NXT Championship, as well as being a part of WrestleMania and defeating Kevin Owens at Battleground. The true highlight hasn't happened yet, and that's winning the Universal Championship. The next questions asks how it feels to hear the fans sing along to his theme song. He says songs have always followed him throughout his career. He think it's very cool that songs associated with him get stuck in his head. The final questions asks his plans for his match with Jericho. He says the best gift Jericho could give him is the "old" Jericho, the one who he modeled his career after. Tonight, he might just have to settle for beating Jericho up.
Back at the panel, Jerry picks Jericho to win, as does Lita. Booker says not to underestimate Zayn tonight.
The conversation moves to the Tag Team Championship Match between The New Day and The Club. Lita says they have a lot of experience and they have a lot of chemistry outside the ring. Jerry says they could not be less alike as teams. The Club is brutal, and The New Day are three clowns. He's ready for new champions. Booker picks The New Day to win, and Lita picks Gallows & Anderson.
Down at the Raw announce table, Michael Cole welcomes us alongside Corey Graves and Byron Saxton. Alicia Fox makes her way to the ring, followed by Nia Jax.
Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox
Alicia starts off with a number of kicks to Nia Jax's leg, taking her down to a knee. Alicia goes to grapple and gets picked up by Nia, who slams her into the corner repeatedly before dumping her to the mat. Nia kicks Alicia in the back and tosser her across the ring by the hair. Alicia tries to kick her away but Nia returns a kick of her own before applying a half nelson chinlock. Alicia fights to her feet but gets swung down to the ground by Nia. Alicia gets to her feet and lands an elbow to the face. Nia charges and Alicia dodges. Alicia lands a number of forearms and a dropkick. She goes to whip Nia, but she plants her feet and whips Alicia out to the apron. Alicia hangs Nia up on the top rope and climbs to the top rope. Alicia lands a cross body for a one-count, and quickly goes for a scissors kick for a two-count. Alicia charges at Nia, who barrels into her and sends her into the mat. Nia goes to slam Alicia, but she fights out and crawls to the turnbuckle. Nia runs toward her and lands a running hip attack. Nia pulls Alicia out to the middle of the ring and lands a Samoan drop for the win.
Winner: Nia Jax
Back at the panel, Jerry advises Alicia to run next time she sees Nia Jax.
The conversation moves to Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. Jerry says Triple H sent a message to Seth Rollins: you're done! Booker says this might be the first time Rollins has truly been on his own in WWE. Jerry says Kevin Owens is "the man" in WWE. Booker says we'll find out who the man really is tonight. A vignette on the WWE Universal Championship closes the Kickoff.
