Tonight’s Monday Night Raw comes live from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tonight’s episode features some of Raw’s top talent, as we finish the path to the Royal Rumble. Will we see anymore superstars declare for the Rumble? What will be next for Braun Strowman after being replaced in the Universal Championship match? We will find out in the coming moments!
We kick of the show with Brock Lesnar making his way out to the ring with his advocate Paul Heyman. He’s met with a mixed reaction from the Oklahoma crowd. Once in the ring, Heyman recaps how Finn Balor managed to become the new challenger for the championship. He says Balor stepped up and seized the moment, pinning John Cena without any type of controversy. He says the the WWE Universe believes in Finn Balor, as does he. However, this Sunday, Balor has no chance against his client.
As Heyman finishes his soliloquy, Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring. He says that no one should be able to believe that Finn Balor will be able to beat Brock Lesnar. He compares it to the story of David vs. Goliath, with David losing in the end. Mr. McMahon is interrupted by the man who was supposed to face Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman.
Braun steps into the ring and says last Monday was the worst night of his life. He says if Brock manages to win this Sunday, he will be coming for Brock Lesnar. Finn Balor then makes his way to the ring.
When he enters the ring, he reiterated the fact that earned his opportunity for the title. He acknowledges that Vince does not believe he an beat Brock, but he does. He says that he will reclaim the title that he never lost. Braun interrupts, saying that he doesn’t think that Balor will be able to beat Lesnar. Balor says he will be able to do something Braun has never done, and that is beat Brock Lesnar. McMahon makes a match between Braun Strowman and Finn Balor. (Commercial)
Finn Balor vs. Braun Strowman
We come back from the break and the match has been fairly even, although Balor struggles to get the monster down to the mat. Strowman is easily able to counter Balor’s quickness with his strength. The action spills outside of the ring, as Balor is met with a huge running shoulder. Once back in the ring, Strowman begins to take control. Balor tries to fight back to gain momentum, but his attempts are thwarted until he is able to land a sling blade onto Braun. When they stand, Balor delivers a few quick forearms and locks in a sleeperhold in the middle of the ring. Strowman begins to fade, but he is able to fight out of it. Balor goes up to the top rope, but is caught by Strowman. He throws Balor to the outside of the ring, and he is caught by Brock Lesnar, who delivers a huge belly to belly suplex. Lesnar turns his attention to Strowman, but it is interrupted when Balor sends him into the ring post. Balor continues this momentum surge as he brings the attack to both Brock Lesnar on the outside and Braun Strowman on the inside of the ring. Balor is able to down Strowman after a dropkick to the corner. He hits the Coup de Grace, but before he is able to go for the pin, Brock Lesnar delivers a massive F5. Finn Balor wins by DQ (Commercial)
We come back and the new Intercontinental champion, Bobby Lashley, makes his way to the ring with Lio Rush. Once in the ring, Lio Rush claims that Lashley is better than everyone in the locker room. He says Lashley is a professional fighter, and he will not be issuing any open challenges. As Lashley poses with his new championship, he is interrupted by the number one contender for the title, Apollo.
He congratulates Lashley for winning the title. He also says the crowd wants to see him compete. He challenges Lashley to a match. Rush interjects and says that Apollo is nowhere near championship material. He says if Apollo can beat Lashley in a “pose off”, he can face Lashley. In the middle of Apollo posing, he is attacked by Lashley. Apollo is ultimately able to get the upper hand, sending Lashley and Rush outside of the ring. (Commercial)
Bobby Lashley vs. Apollo Crews
We come back ad tha match has begun, with Lashley in control of the match. However, the men come to a standstill when Crews delivers a missile dropkick from the top rope. Crews is able to show his athleticism with his high flying offense. However, a distraction from Lio Rush allows Bobby Lashley to gain a pinfall victory after landing a huge spear on Apollo Crews. Bobby Lashley wins.
After the match, Seth Rollins makes his way towards the ring for his match against Drew McIntyre. Rollins and Lashley cross paths on the entrance ramp, but nothing comes of it. (Commercial)
In the ring, Rollins acknowledges the Martin Luther King holiday, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King. He recaps how he’s had to overcome adversity the last couple of months. He says that this Sunday, he is going to Chase Field and he is going to win the Royal Rumble. McIntyre makes his way to the ring and says that there is no chance the Rollins is going to win the Royal Rumble this Sunday. He says that he hopes that they are the two final men standing in the ring so that he can look him in the eyes and eliminate him from the match. (Commercial)
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre
We come back and Rollins is bringing the action to McIntyre. After delivering a suicide dive on the outside of the ring, he lands a flying forearm on the inside. Once again the action spills outside. Rollins attempts to dive on Drew from the top rope, but McIntyre avoids it, sending Rollins into the barricade. McIntyre sends Rollins back to the inside of the ring. He locks in a sleeperhold, but Rollins is able to fight out. That moment is stopped with a huge clothesline from McIntyre. McIntyre keeps the pressure on Rollins with a couple of chops to the chest followed by an overhead belly to belly suplex. The action spills outside once again, where McIntyre delivers an alabama slam. (Commercial)
We come back as the two men trade chops in the middle of the ring. Rollins is able to win the exchange as he delivers blockbuster from the top rope. Rollins goes for the buckle bomb, but settles for a quick pin attempt after an unsuccessful buckle bomb. After a kickcout, he’s able to deliver a quick falcon arrow. He goes for the stomp but McIntyre moves out of the way. Rollins is able to get McIntyre into the corner and put him in the tree of woe. With Rollins on the top rope, McIntyre is able to deliver an overhead suplex, but Rollins lands on his feet. With both men up, Rollins delivers a superkick. He attempts a pin, but McIntyre kicks out. When the two men stand, they trade blows once again, but McIntyre wins the exchange with a huge headbutt. McIntyre is able to land a huge sidewalk slam from the second turnbuckle, followed by a huge powerbomb and attempts a pin, but Rollins kicks out. McIntyre picks Rollins up,but Rollins is able to execute a quick pin, gaining the pinfall. Seth Rollins wins
Backstage, The Revival talk to Vince McMahon about how they have been wronged the last two weeks. They ask him for one more chance at the title. They are granted their opportunity. However, there will be a special guest referee, and that is Curt Hawkins. (Commercial)
Backstage, Dean Ambrose says that the fact that he is not Intercontinental Champion is an injustice. He says that he hopes that he sees Lashley and Rollins in the Rumble match so that he can personally eliminate them. He says he owns the road to WrestleMania and he will win the Rumble match.
Lucha House Party vs. Jinder Mahal & the Singh Brothers
Mahal starts the match with Lince Dorado. He takes the upper hand and makes the tag. Dorado is able to take the upper hand against Sunil and tag in Kalisto. Sunil gains the advantage and tags in Sanir. After a quick exchange, Gran Metalik tags in and gains the quick pinfall victory after a moonsault. Lucha House Party wins. (Commercial)
Elias has made his way into the ring. He says that 2019 is going to be an incredible year. He says that after he wins the Royal Rumble, he will still be met with many challenges. He is interrupted by Baron Corbin. Corbin says Elias almost got him killed when he ratted him out to Braun Strowman. He says that he is going to put Elias in his place. Elias sings a quick song about Corbin getting fired. (Commercial)
Elias vs. Baron Corbin
Elias delivers an old school type maneuver to Corbin, sending him to the outside of the ring. The two main battle on the ring apron, which ends with Corbin sending Elias into the ring post. Inside the ring, Corbin takes control of the match, sending Elias headfirst into the mat. Elias attempts to gain control by sending Corbin to the outside of the ring, but Corbin is able to go around the ring post, and deliver a clothing on he inside of the ring. After, the two men trade blows, where Elias is able to land a huge knee to the head of Corbin. After a failed pin attempt, the two men trade blows once again. After a shot to the throat of Elias, Corbin is able to deliver an End off Days and pin Elias for the pinfall victory. Baron Corbin wins (Commercial)
We come back to a Moment of Bliss, hosted by Alexa Bliss. She begins to speak about the women’s Royal Rumble match. She introduces some of the participants on the match. She introduces her first guest, Nia Jax. She asks Jax which title she will go for if she wins the match on Sunday. Before Jax can answer, she is interrupted by Ember Moon. Moon says she's tired of sitting in the locker room and makes the statement that she is going to win the Royal Rumble. She is then interrupted by Alicia Fox who says she will win the match. The likes of Mickie James, the Riott Squad, Nikki Cross, and Tamina make their way from the back and claim they will win the match. Alexa tells the women to calm down, but a huge brawl breaks out onstage between all of the women. The action spills backstage as Bliss watches from the stage. Bliss from the stage announces she will enter the rumble match. She is then interrupted by Lacey Evans, who also declares herself into the Royal Rumble match. (Commercial)
Heavy Machinery vs. the Ascension
Otis and Viktor start the match off. Otis is able to quickly show off his strength as he delivers an airplane spin to Viktor. Tucker is able make the tag and show his strength and speed delivering quick offense. Heavy Machinery is able to make fast work of the Ascension as they deliver the Compactor to Viktor and gain the pinfall. Heavy Machinery wins (Commercial)
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Revival vs Bobby Roode & Chad Gable
Wilder and Gable begin the match trading quick holds and takedowns. Dawson makes the tag and begins to chop the chest of Gable. The Revival attempt to double team Gable, but it backfires when Roode interferes and the two send the Revival to the outside of the ring. Gable is able to hit Wilder with a senton, but then is met with a clothesline from Dawson. (Commercial)
Gable is caught in a sidelock by Dawson, but is able to deliver a huge back suplex. Wilder and Roode are both able to make tags, ad Roode takes control. He’s able to knock Dawson off the apron and hit Wilder with a huge spinebuster. Wilder attempts a pin with his feet on the ropes, but the special guest referee, Curt Hawkins, is able to recognize the feet on the ropes. The Revival attempt a couple more dirty pins, but they do not work. Gable is able to rollup Wilder and gain a quick pin attempt after a fast count from Hawkins. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable retain
After the match, The Revival attack Curt Hawkins, but he is saved by his former tag partner, Zack Ryder.
Backstage, Ronda Rousey is asked what she would say to Sasha Banks would say if she were standing next to her. Rousey says she doesn’t owe Banks any type of apology after last week’s events on a Moment of Bliss. (Commercial)
Ronda Rousey & Natalya vs. Sasha Banks & Bayley
Before the match starts, Banks says she wasn’t handed anything, unlike Rousey. She says she will make Rousey tap at the Royal Rumble.
Banks and Natalya's start the match. As the bell rings, Banks immediately knocks Rousey off of the ring apron, angering an already enraged Rousey. Banks makes the tag to Bayley and they double team Natalya. Rousey makes her way into the ring to break up the assault on her partner and sends both women to the outside of the ring. (Commercial)
Natalya and Bayley are in the ring as we come back. However, Rousey is able to quickly make the tag and her and Natalya, where they deliver a Hart Attack to Bayley. A quick tag brings Natalya back into the match. After some action, Bayley is able make the tag to Banks, where they are able to make quick tags in and out to each other, dominating Natalya. Rousey is eventually able to make the tag, and her and Banks go back and forth. Banks is able to lock in a Banks Statement onto Rousey, but Natalya interferes. Rousey is able to get up and attack Bayley, who has made the tag. Rousey begins to punish Bayley, delivering multiple blows and judo flips to her opponent. Ronda attempts an armbar, but Bayley is able to reverse it and make the tag to Banks. After some action, Natalya is able to make the tag and deliver a Sharpshooter to Banks, but Bayley breaks the hold. Banks is eventually able to lock in the Banks Statement and force Natalya to tap. Sasha Banks and Bayley win
The night ended with Banks and Rousey having to be seperated in the ring after a brief face to face encounter.
