BROOKLYN, NY (Barclays Center)
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
Written by Brendan Wahl

We open with the announcers informing us that Finn Balor was injured at SummerSlam and will be injured for six months. We see footage of his shoulder hitting the barricade and learn that he will be out for six months.

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the ring and welcome everyone to RAW. Foley then brings out the Universal Champion Finn Balor and he comes down with the title and his arm in a sling. Oh, this is heartbreaking. Finn is given the microphone and says that he proved that he can achieve the impossible by becoming the WWE Universal Champion... but there was a sacrifice. He thanks the WWE, all the talent in the back (including Rollins) and the audience but he has to relinquish the title. But rest assured, Finn says, he will be back when he is fit and healthy and will be going right after this title once again. Foley takes the title and raises Balor's arm in the air. Finn goes to leave but Seth Rollins' music cuts him off and Finn's cocky SummerSlam opponent walks down the ramp laughing about the situation. Seth gets in the ring and hugs Stephanie before grabbing the microphone. He declares himself the true winner at SummerSlam and says that they should have a championship celebration for him - the true Universal Champion. Sami Zayn takes this opportunity to interrupt but before he can say anything we get an interruption from Chris Jericho, who begs Stephanie to give him the belt. Now we get Kevin Owens coming down to the ring! They all argue with each other and now we get... Enzo and Cass? Aaaaand Roman Reigns. OK, what is going on here? Foley says there will be a series of matches culminating in a new Universal Champion next week. Right now we're getting Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins. Kevin distracts Sami long enough for Rollins to blindside him and we head to commercials.

MATCH #1
WWE Universal Title Qualifier
Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins

Sami pounds on Rollins to start but Seth kicks him and throws him to the apron. However, Sami gets back in with a flying headscissors and knocks Rollins to the outside but is unable to hit a dive. Seth drags Sami to the outside and goes for a running powerbomb but Sami escapes and then hits a moonsault as he jumps off the barricade. Sami rolls Seth back in but immediately eats a superkick and then gets stomped in the corner. Rollins grabs a side headlock and then whips Sami hard into the corner. A second whip results in Sami popping out with a clothesline. He leapfrogs off the bottom rope and seemingly rolls his ankle but still manages to send Rollins crashing to the outside. He then flips over the top rope to the outside with a dive and again clutches his ankle. Seth quickly rolls him back in and gets a springboard knee to the face but gets a two count. Sami rolls out of the ring as we go to commercial.

Sami fights back but Rollins takes him down... but eats a vicious lariat. Zayn fires back and goes for the Blue Thunder Bomb but his ankle gives way and Rollins gets a two count. He puts Sami on the top rope but gets headbutted off the ropes. Seth then runs right back up but Sami catches him and gets a sunset flip powerbomb for a two count. Rollins goes for the Pedigree but Sami counters with a jackknife rollup for a two count and then hits the exploder suplex into the corner. He goes for the Helluva Kick but Seth hits him with a jumping knee to the face. Seth then stomps on Sami's leg and locks him in a modified heel hook. Sami stomps on Rollins' face to fight out of it and pulls himself up but can't get the Michinoku Driver, allowing Rollins to hit the Pedigree for the victory.

WINNER via PINFALL: Seth Rollins (12:52)

MATCH #2
WWE Universal Title Qualifier
Neville vs. Kevin Owens

Owens immediately starts on offense but Neville escapes a Pop-Up Powerbomb attempt with quick kicks to the gut. Neville then sends Owens to the outside and hits a 450 off the apron to the floor. Neville then sends Owens to the other side and hits him with another huge dive. Chris Jericho comes down to the ring to provide a distraction allowing Owens to come around the corner with a clothesline that crushes Neville. We take a break.

We come back from the break with Owens using a chinlock on Neville. He eventually breaks it and gets a big German Suplex on Owens, which causes Jericho to wince at ringside. The Bullfrog Splash from Owens misses so Neville gets a big corkscrew moonsault and gets a two count. Neville then grabs Owens by the waist and hits another German Suplex for another very close near fall. He heads up top and can't hit the Red Arrow but lands on his feet. However, Owens pops him with a superkick but Neville counters the powerbomb with a rollup and then heads up top. Jericho distracts him again though so Neville kicks him, nails Owens, but gets crotched on the top rope. Owens nails him with an overhead neckbreaker for the victory.

WINNER via PINFALL: Kevin Owens (8:30)

Michael Cole announces that there will be a fatal four-way match next week with the qualifying match winners. So far, we've got Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens. We've still got Roman Reigns vs. Chris Jericho and Big Cass vs. US Champion Rusev in qualifying matches.

New Day hit the ring and Big E does some very fast-paced hip-swiveling after declaring that he's BACK, BAYBEE! Kofi announces that they've been the champions for 365 days at this point and then thanks the fans because they're responsible for the trio being as popular as they are now. They have a unicorn pinata and it's filled with BOOTY O'S! They want to play with the pinata but are interrupted by Gallows & Anderson. They say that this is stupid and so is Brooklyn because New Day lost the match last night at SummerSlam. Gallows says that this means that they are owed a title rematch. Karl says that Kofi is the "stupidest" because he was talking about magic but he received the Magic Killer last night. Big E cuts them off and they dance around as we head to a commercial break.

MATCH #3
Big E [w /New Day] (Tag Team Champions) vs. Karl Anderson [w /Luke Gallows]

E grabs an abdominal stretch and rhythmically slaps his butt to "New. Day Rocks!"and tackles him in the corner but a distraction from Gallows allows Anderson to dropkick his opponentin the knee and then stomp on his leg in the corner. Big E fights out of a front facelock but Karl goes back to the knee again and garners himself a two count. He continues to kick at the knee and then stomps Big E in the corner but the champ fights out and launches Karl to the outside. Meanwhile, Gallows manages to take out both Xavier and Kofi on the outside. Big E sends Karl to the apron but gets a knee to the face. Meanwhile, Kofi and Xavier knock down Gallows and Big E hits Anderson with the Big Ending for the big win.

WINNER via PINFALL: Big E (3:36)

We see footage of the Dudley Boyz debuting on Sept. 2nd, 1999 by attacking several tag teams. They will retire here tonight... supposedly.

Titus O'Neil is in the ring with a microphone and talks about New Day becoming the tag team champions last summer in Brooklyn. He mentions that the Primetime Players were the champions before them though and says that people in Brooklyn always ask if that was the worst day of Titus' life. Titus says it was the BEST day of his life because he dropped dead weight in the form of Darren Young. He questions how Darren will be made "great again" if he was never great in the first place and even says that he would be Universal Champion at this point in his career if Darren had never been his partner in the first place. He calls Darren out so he can bury him and be done with him once and for all. The fans chant for Heath Slater but Titus says that he wants Darren. He continues to try and call him out and questions who Bob Backlund is anyway. Bob then comes out and Titus shoves him into the corner but Bob puts him in the Cross-Faced Chicken Wing. Titus fights out and slams Backlund so Darren Young runs out and checks on his mentor. Darren then gets taken out with Clash of the Titus to end the segment.

Tom Phillips interviews Stephanie McMahon about the controversial Brock Lesnar/Randy Orton match and aftermath from last night's SummerSlam. Steph says she agrees with Shane that Brock crossed the line and warns that there WILL be repercussions.

The announcers again show us where Finn Balor got injured in his Universal Title match at SummerSlam.

MATCH #4
WWE Universal Title Qualifier
Big Cass [w /Enzo Amore] vs. Rusev (United States Champion) [w /Lana]

Rusev starts out quick and hammers Cass in the corner but the big man fights back and goes after the ribs followed by a clothesline to the outside as we go to a commercial break.

When we come back from the break, Rusev has Cass in a cobra clutch. He then takes Cass down with a knee to the gut and a kick to the back of the head that brings him down to his knees. Cass fights back with right hands to the ribs though but Rusev stays on him with a chopblock to the knee. Rusev drops a pair of elbows but misses a big splash, which really causes some wear and tear on his ribs. Cass comes back with a splash in the corner but Rusev rolls to the outside so as to avoid the boot. He then decides to superkick Enzo ffor the hell of it, which incites Cass' rage and he chases him all the way back inside the ring. Cass hammers away in the corner and slams the US Champion but Rusev rolls out before Cass can even jump up for the Empire Elbow. They both head to the outside with Rusev going ribs-first into the steel steps. Back in, Rusev gets a superkick but Cass bounces right back with a big boot and again, Rusev rolls to the outside. He decides to just take the countout loss.

WINNER via COUNTOUT: Big Cass (8:19)

Tom Phillips interviews Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. They bicker back and forth about the Universal Title since they will both potentially be in the match next week.

Women's Champion Charlotte [w /Dana Brooke] comes down to the ring to gloat about her surprising victory last night with Dana trying (unsuccessfully) to get a "You Deserve It" chant going in the crowd. Char declares herself the greatest female athlete in the world and says that she is the MONEY of the women's division. She did it all by herself and Sasha's back injury proved that she can't carry the division and will never come after her title again. Charlotte says that if/when Sasha DOES get cleared she should not actually come back because Charlotte has reclaimed her throne. Charlotte poses and goes to leave but Mick Foley's music interrupts her exit. He congratulates Charlotte for raising the bar with Sasha Banks and says that Sasha WILL be granted a rematch when she returns to the WWE. Char says that she'll just break her back again and says that she should be given the night off after her performance last night at SummerSlam. Foley says that "not so fast" because he and Stephanie have signed the hottest free agent of the New Era - BAYLEY!!! She comes out to her full entrance and the crowd goes crazy. Bayley gets in the ring and soaks up the adulation from the fans before grabbing a microphone. She gets a "You Deserve It" chant as she can't believe that this is actually happening to her because she's been waiting for this moment her entire life. She wants to seal the deal with Mick Foley with a hug... and gets one! Charlotte responds that Bayley got left behind for a reason but Bay is not here to try and upstage her but rather challenge her for the Women's Title. Charlotte tells her to get in line so she tells Dana to take the match instead. Foley says that's a fair compromise so we will get Bayley's debut against Dana Brooke - NEXT!

MATCH #5
Bayley vs. Dana Brooke [w /Charlotte (Womens Champion)]

Bayley quickly takes Brooke down using her quickness but gets elbowed in the face and rammed into the turnbuckles. However, Bayley fights out and rams Dana's head into the buckle several times instead and grabs a two count. Bayley is knocked to the outside and Dana follows it up with a baseball slide. She rams Bayley into the barricade and rolls her back in but only gets a one count. Dana then goes to a submission hold and follows it up with forearm smashes to bring her down. Bayley fights out and sends Dana to the corner and then ADJUSTS HER HAIR, nailing Dana with a spinning elbow and the Bayley-to-Belly for the win.

WINNER via PINFALL: Bayley (4:29)

Tom Phillips interviews Roman Reigns who promises to shut Chris Jericho's mouth tonight either with the scarf or his fists.

Sheamus talks about his Best-of-7 Series against Cesaro that continues next week. He talks about beating Cesaro once already at SummerSlam and says that he will end up being the winner.

Byron Saxton interviews Braun's next victim - Johnny Knockout. He says he's doing this because he likes big sweaty men. Huh?!

MATCH #6
Johnny Knockout vs. Braun Strowman

Johnny starts quick with kicks to the back but Braun clotheslines him down and then hammers him down to the mat with a forearm smash. He whips Johnny into the corner and then squashes him with a splash before finishing him with the reverse chokeslam.

WINNER via PINFALL: Braun Strowman (1:19)

Just for fun, Braun takes Johnny down again and forces the referee to count the pin again through intimidation.

Again, Michael Cole talks about the Dudley Boyz retirement later tonight. We get footage of them returning last year to attack the New Day on RAW.

The Dudley Boyz come out for their big retirement speech. Bubba says he doesn't get very emotional but tonight might be a little bit different. He says that one year ago here in Brooklyn, the pyro went off and he and D-Von came back home to the WWE. He says that the fans have loved and hated them but they have always respected them over the course of 20 years. D-Von adds that he's been up and down the highway with Bubba for 20 years creating history with things like the TLC match alongside Edge and Christian and the Hardy Boyz. D-Von says he would take every chairshot and ladder shot all over again tonight if he had to... and thanks the fans because without them, there would be no Dudley Boyz. Bubba decides to thank the fans instead of them thanking the boyz and says that they are now going out on their own terms. D-Von lets out one final "TESTIFY!" and we get an interruption... from the Shining Stars for some reason? They call the Dudleyz washed up but add that there's a silver lining behind every dark cloud... and the crowd cuts them off with "we want tables" chants. They decide to get the Dudleyz a very special going-away present in the form of two economy tickets to Puerto Rico. They hype up their homeland but the Dudleyz have heard enough and we get the usual Dudley spots with the 3D, the WHAZZAAAAAAP Drop and then Bubba calls on D-Von to get a table. Primo gets set up but Gallows & Anderson interrupt now and attack both Dudleyz, ramming D-Von into the steps and hitting Bubba with the Magic Killer on the outside of the ring. D-Von is brought into the ring and he takes the Magic Killer through a table!

MATCH #7
WWE Universal Title Qualifier
Roman Reigns vs. Chris Jericho

Jericho's perma-sneer is awesome. Roman uses his power to start and shoulderblocks Jericho down so he gets slapped in return. It makes Roman mad so Jericho bails but gets caught with a back elbow and a clothesline when they both get back in the ring. Roman whips Jericho into the corner and relentlessly smashes him but gets poked in the eyes. Jericho then goes after the eye with right hands and ax handles him to the outside as we take a commercial break.

When we come back, Jericho is in control and the stupid fans are doing the Wave. Jericho yanks on Roman's hair and tries to slug Roman but the Samoan fires back but then falls to a dropkick. He gets a two count and then goes to a chinlock. Roman comes back but misses the Superman Punch but does manage to escape the Walls. Jericho hits a standing enzuiguri though and gets a two count. Roman hits the Drive-By but runs into a back elbow. He counters the lionsault by putting his knees up and this time he connects with the Superman Punch but only gets a two count. Sitout powerbomb gets another two count for Roman. Kevin Owens comes down and gets on the apron allowing Jericho to get a rollup but he only gets a two count. Roman then hits another Superman Punch but Jericho reverses a spear into the Walls of Jericho! Roman gets to the ropes but Owens superkicks him in the eye and Jericho hits the Codebreaker but still only gets a TWO COUNT. Wow. Jericho slaps Roman around but he fires back and Superman Punches Owens off the apron, scoots out of a rollup and spears Jericho for the 1-2-3.

WINNER via PINFALL: Roman Reigns (15:01)

That's it! G'night, folks!
