As the standing of Dolph Zigglerappears to be in question, the elevation of another is clear.
WWE plans to push Roman Reigns in a big way in 2015, which was more than evident with him winning Superstar of the Year on this week’s Slammy episode of Monday Night Raw.
For those that missed it, Reigns beat out Brock Lesnar, Dean Ambrose, John Cena, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt to win the Slammy, even though he’s been out the past couple of months due to an incarcerated hernia. Reigns appeared live to accept the award.
The legitimacy of the voting is being put into question because WWE had Reigns at TV, although one could argue he was brought in “just in case.”
We learned a couple of weeks ago that it was CM Punk that pitched the idea of The Shield faction to company officials but Reigns was a selection made by Triple H and Vince McMahon, replacing Chris Hero (who was in WWE developmental at the time as Kassius Ohno).
