WWE RAW Streaming Live Results & Discussion (02/05/18)


Welcome everyone to the Raw live coverage and live chat, this week Raw takes place in Des Moines, Iowa. Already announced is Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns in an Elimination Chamber qualifier. Raw kicks off tonight with a Bray Wyatt promo and the Elimination Chamber. He reminds us all that he won the match last year. He says he knows who Reigns truly is and then cuts to a Reigns promo. Reigns says he will win Elimination Chamber go to suplex city and defeat Brock Lesnar.

Bray Wyatt v Roman Reigns (Elimination Chamber Qualifier)

Jonathan Coachman has our first truly good comment tonight, he compares Elimination Chamber to the playoffs. Both men go back and forth and Wyatt pulls out the upside down stare early. Reigns takes a hard shoulder shot to the corner post, it sounds awesome. Hardy is shown backstage watching this match as Wyatt takes control. Crowd is fully split with "Lets go Roman" and "Roman Sucks" chants. Reigns regains control after a bit clothesline but it's short lived. Wyatt counters the drive by with a clothesline of his own. We come back from commercial break with Wyatt having Reigns down in a chinlock. Coach is such a breathe of fresh air to commentary as a whole. Reigns counters and begins his clotheslines in the corner however Wyatt reverses and gets a near fall. Wyatt attempts a superplex but it's reversed and drops Wyatt with a powerbomb for a near fall. Reigns attempts a Superman punch however Wyatt counters with a Uranagi. Wyatt lands a senton and gets a two count. Wyatt tries a Sister Abigail and Reigns hits the Superman punch this time for a near fall. Wyatt counters the Spear with a big boot and Sister Abigail. The crowd begins a "this is awesome" chant and Wyatt punches Reigns in the back of the head. Reigns finally hits the Spear and picks up the win. After the match Hardy shows up and drops Wyatt with a twist of fate.

Winner: Roman Reigns

(This was another very good Raw match for Roman Reigns. Again this shows why everyone loved Wyatt so much. When he is paired with a superstar like Reigns. After the match Hardy got his hands on Wyatt and this feud will continue.)

Before going to commercial we have a Rollins and Jordan promo. Rollins tells Jordan they need to get back on track. Jordan says he's healthy enough to compete.

The Revival v Finn Balor & Karl Anderson:

Prior to the match the Revival cut a promo while going to the ring. Anderson and Dawson start this match. Anderson takes charge early and he and Balor clear the ring before commercial. We come back from commercial with Dawson controlling Balor. The Revival show great team work when cutting off Balor from tagging Anderson. Balor hits a double stomp and Anderson gets the tag. Anderson hits an awesome kick in the corner and then a neckbreaker. Dawson gets the tag back in and catches a spinebuster. Balor gets the tag and Anderson flips over the top rope. Balor hits the coupe de' gras for the win.

Winners: Balor Club

It's announced Angle will reveal the Elimination Chamber opponents for Alexa Bliss. Bayley and Sasha have a backstage interaction and tease tension.

Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali vs. Tony Nese and Drew Gulak

Match opens with Nese controlling the offense on Ali. They announce Drake Maverick on commentary and even refer to him as Rockstar Spud. Ali tags in Alexander and Gulak hits a double axe handle after he's tagged in. Alexander takes a hard bump on the ropes and Nese is back in. Alexander gains separation and tags Ali back in. Ali connects with a massive springboard spinning ddt. Alexander with a huge front flip to the outside and Gulak connects with a huge clothesline on Ali. Alexander hits the lumbarcheck for the win.

Winners: Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali

(Great high flying action and commentary put them over well. Great showcase of the four talents and Maverick is already adding intrigue.)

Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring to announce the Women's Elimination Chamber competitors. Angle makes mention of history being made at the Royal Rumble. He puts over Asuka for being the winner. Angle announces the competitors for Alexa Bliss. The announced superstars are Bayley, Rose, Mickie James Sonya Deville and Sasha Banks. Angle also announces Nia Jax vs. Asuka and if Jax wins she's added to the Wrestlemania title match. Alexa comes to the ring and says Angle is being wrong and unjust. Bliss brings up a point that the Women's title is being defended in the Chamber but not the Mens. Bliss says that Angle is sexist and that she shouldn't have to defend her title at Elimination Chamber. Angle asks the audience if they want Bliss to defend her title. They chant yes and the match stands.

Cena cuts a promo and puts over Elias and Strowman. Cena says he's putting himself in the best position to main event Wrestlemania.

Michael Cole announces that it's Black History Month. They show a video package for Black History Month.

Asuka vs. Bayley

Michael Cole opens up with a great comment about these two in NXT. Bayley starts this match with a nice headlock and we get more mat wrestling between the two. Bayley sends Asuka to the outside and then hits an outside hurricanrana. Bayley throws Asuka back in the ring and Asuka counters Bayley trying to re-enter the ring. Both ladies are down as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Bayley has Asuka grounded. Bayley suplexes Asuka for a two count. Asuka regains control with some stiff strikes and hits a running knee for two. Asuka goes for the Asuka lock and Bayley counters with a stunner in the ropes. Both women end up outside with Asuka gaining control. Bayley and Asuka with great counter wrestling. Asuka reverses the Bayley to belly and Bayley reverses the Asuka lock. Asuka locks in the armbar for the win.

Winner: Asuka

(Great match between these two. Much like Wyatt and Reigns, with the right opponent superstars can look great. Bayley had her best night in quite some time.)

Miz vs. Apollo Crews:

Miz cuts a promo and says when his hand goes up the crowds mouths go shut. Miz puts himself over saying he defeated Reigns and won the IC Title. Miz says that Eagles coach Doug Pederson showed his team a video of the Miz. Then does a impression of Paul Heyman and says he will face Lesnar. The match is underway when we come back from commercial. There are back and forth pin attempts and Miz drops Apollo neck first on the top rope. Apollo then counters a double axe handle with a fantastic dropkick. Apollo does a press slam and attempts a backflip, Miz counters and gets a two count. Crews with a running kick to the face on Miz. Apollo counters a corner clothesline into a belly to belly. Apollo gets a two count with the standing shooting star press. Miz counters a springboard attempt and hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

Winner: The Miz

(Raw has done a great job tonight in match pairings. Miz and Apollo had a good match with a good finish. Apollo got to show some highlights and Miz got more momentum.)

Backstage Jason Jordan tells Seth Rollins that he can't compete tonight. Reigns becomes Rollins tag partner.

The Bar vs. Reigns and Rollins (Raw Tag Title Match)

Nice touch for commentary to point out the Bar being unhappy about Reigns teaming with Rollins. Reigns looks genuinely happy to be teaming with Rollins here. Rollins and Sheamus start off the match and Rollins grabs control. Cesaro tags in and now Cesaro and Rollins chain wrestle a bit. Rollins eats a knee and we get quick tags with Cesaro and Shemaus. Rollins gets to Reigns and they hit a double shoulder tackle. Reigns and Rollins try and clean house but Sheamus catches Rollins for a neckbreaker. Instead The Bar have both Rollins and Reigns on the ground, as we go to commercial. We come back to Sheamus beating Reigns in the corner. Cesaro now in and gets a two count on Reigns after the press uppercut. Sheamus and Cesaro his the Irish curse double team move for a two count on Reigns. Reigns reverses Cesaro and then superman punches Sheamus. Jordan comes to the ring and helps Rollins up. Rollins hits a blockbuster and suicide dive. Rollins gets a two count after a sling blade to Cesaro. Cesaro evades a blackout but Rollins lands a falcon arrow for two. Rollins just hit a five star superkick to Sheamus. The Bar attempts to leave and Jordan punches them. Rollins and Reigns lose via disqualification.

Winners: The Bar

(Great character progression with Jason Jordan and great match. Reigns and Rollins have great chemistry. The Bar is the second best tag team in the WWE. This Raw has been absolutely fantastic in ring.)

Rollins and Jordan have a backstage confrontation with Angle. Jordan is sent home until he is medically cleared.

Nia Jax vs. Local Talent.

A video package of Nia Jax before the match. The local talent is thrown around and Jax splashes her in the corner. Nia does a press slam and leg drop for the win.

(Nice showcase for Now however nothing special. Momentum building.)

Sonya Deville vs. Mickie James

Sonya gets the early offense. However Mickie counters with some stiff offense and Sonya is selling her nose. Mandy distracts Mickie and Deville throws James across the ring. Deville throws a great straight right to the head. Deville hits a running knee strike for a two count. Great strikes between Deville and James with Mickie rolling Sonya up for the win. After the match Absolution beats down Mickie until Alexa saves her.

Winner: Mickie James

(Hard hitting match with some great strikes. Also begins a new story with Mickie and Alexa.)

It's announced that Balor vs. Apollo vs. Wyatt vs. Hardy will happen next week. The winner will get the final chamber spit.

Elias vs. Braun Strowman vs. John Cena (Winner gets to enter Chamber last):

Elias enters first and does a song bashing Iowa. Cena enters the match next to a good pop and then out comes Strowman. Strowman takes down Cena early as Elias rolls outside. Strowman us throwing Elias to the outside as we come back from commercial. Crowd is chanting Strowman loudly as Strowman hits a couple headbutts. Cena and Elias team up to take out Strowman. Elias hits Strowman with a guitar and then Cena drops Strowman with an AA. Elias and Cena end up in the ring with a couple of near falls. Strowman drops Cena and then Elias throws Strowman outside the ring. Elias pins Cena and will enter last. The crowd cheers for Strowman hitting finishers and standing tall.

(Fun triple threat and kept Strowman as a monster. Also it helped Elias take another step pinning Cena.)
