The Rock has begun work as a spokesman for Under Armour but took issue with the fact that the company's CEO, Kevin Plank, praised Donald Trump during an interview on CNBC. Rock was not so much angry at the comments themselves but more angry at a person in that position creating any kind of partisanship while he is representing their brand. Rock talked about inclusion of all people and said that was something he supported, subtly referring to Trump's attempt at a travel ban for certain countries. Rock also referred to Trump with this quote:
Great leaders inspire and galvanize the masses during turbulent times, they don't cause people to divide and disband.
Even Under Armour themselves issued a statement:
“We engage in policy, not politics, We believe in advocating for fair trade, an inclusive immigration policy that welcomes the best and the brightest and those seeking opportunity in the great tradition of our country, and tax reform that drives hiring to help create new jobs globally, across America and in Baltimore.”
