Roman Reigns Says He's Leading New Generation, Defends WWE PG

Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns was an in-studio guest across ESPN programs on Tuesday to promote Sunday's WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. During an appearance on SportsCenter, he discussed Ronda Rousey making the transition from the UFC to WWE:

"I think she's one of those athletes that gets that attention and all eyes are on her," he said h/t Bleacher Report. "So I think she definitely has the background, and she's got the base to build on, so she's got a great foundation."

During an appearance on ‘First Take,’ Roman gave his thoughts on WWE today after Stephen A. Smith explained what he loved about professional wrestling and asked how it compares to what WWE is doing today. Here’s what Roman said:

“I love it. I feel like I’m leading the new generation at this point. And that’s what life is all about is growing and changing and growing pains. What you named is generations, you didn’t hit just Attitude Era. It’s just like anything... you see these arts where you come all the way around. It was crazy. I was talking to Vince earlier and they blew him up in a limo. But right now I like where we’re at. I’m a family man, I have kids. That’s what we are. We’re a family product. We’re a PG product.”

Smith interrupted, explaining that’s what Goldberg said he wanted.

“That’s the goal,” Reigns continued. “To put smiles on people’s faces, bring families together. Especially when it’s cold outside, you want to go inside and watch some entertainment.”
