By far the biggest story of the day is Ronda Rouseygetting knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Saturday. This has WWE implications as Triple H in particular has been pushing hard to get the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion to at least appear at Wrestlemania 32 next year. WWE has had to deal directly with UFC about Rousey appearing and they haven’t been receptive to an appearance. Complicating matters further is Rousey’s busy moving filming schedule that could keep her out of the show anyway.
The idea from within WWE has been to followup on the surprise cameo she made at the show this year alongside The Rock. Rock is another story as he’s now being considering unlikely for Wrestlemania.
Rousey’s loss doesn’t necessarily kill off the chance she appears again for WWE as she’s still a top name in UFC and they’ll most definitely look to sell a rematch against Holm. An appearance could be used to help co-promote such a fight. First things first though and Rousey will look to regroup after one of the biggest upsets in history.
I will say that I don’t believe anyone in WWE thought Rousey was going to lose last night and the people I speak with on a regular basis were just as surprised as the rest of the world.
