Tonight’s Smackdown comes live from Wichita, Kansas. Tonight is the last episode before this Sunday’s Royal Rumble, and tensions are running high. We will get to see a face to face between the “New” Daniel Bryan and the challenger for his title, AJ Styles, which will be moderated by Mr. McMahon. Also, we will see Rey Mysterio take on Andrade in a 2 out of 3 falls match. This and more to come in the coming moments!
We kick off tonight’s episode with “The Man” Becky Lynch making her way to the ring. Once in the ring, she says the only thing that she should be doing is main eventing WrestleMania. She says that journey begins in five days at the Royal Rumble, where she will beat Asuka. She brings up the fact that she never actually lost to Asuka. Apparently, Asuka took exception to the comments from Lynch because she makes her way to the ring. Once Asuka enters the ring, the two women get into each other’s, faces, but then Charlotte Flair’s music hits and she makes her way down to the ring. Flair says that she is going to win the women’ Royal Rumble. She brings up the fact that she has broken Asuka’s undefeated streak and how she has been at the top of the division for the last four years. As Flair finishes talking, Asuka blindsides Becky Lynch, and the two women brawl in the ring until they have to be separated by referees. The referees are unsuccessful as the fight spills to the outside of the ring. The ringside brawl ends with Lynch standing tall, leaving Asuka floored at the announcers table. (Commercial)
Backstage, the bawl has carried on, as Becky Lynch and Asuka have to be pulled apart by officals yet again.
Mandy Rose Vs. Naomi
Before the match can begin, Naomi attacks Rose at the entrance ramp. Once in the ring, Naomi continues to delivers big fists to Rose, eventually sending here outside of the ring. (Commercial)
Naomi dominated the match during the commercial break, until a big knee to the temple sent her outside of the ring. Inside, Rose takes control, locking the former Women’s champion in a sleeper hold. Naomi is able to fight out and deliver a couple of running shoulders, until Rose is able to counter with a big clothesline. The women briefly trade blows, until Naomi is able to land a big hurricanrana. However, a distraction from Sonya Deville allows Mandy Rose to send Naomi face first into the ring post, allowing Rose to pick up the pinfall victory. Mandy Rose wins
Backstage, Rey Mysterio talks about how in 2006, he entered the Rumble at number one and was able to our battle twenty nine other men and win the Rumble match. He says he will attempt to repeat that on Sunday, but tonight, he will beat Andrade in the 2 out of 3 falls match. (Commercial)
The Miz vs. Cesaro
The match starts and an immediate distraction from Sheamus allows Cesaro to quickly deliver multiple european uppercut to the Miz. Cesaro continues to wear Miz down, until Miz is able to send Cesaro into the corner. It is there that Miz begins to attack the leg of Cesaro. A quick take down allows Miz to lock in a figure four leg lock, but with the help of Sheamus, Cesaro is able to reach the rope and escape to the outside of the ring. (Commercial)
Back in the ring, The Miz and Cesaro trade blows. Miz eventually gets Cesaro into the corner and delivers multiple running dropkicks to Cesaro, finishing the sequence up with a flying clothesline. Miz attempts a double axe handle from the top turnbuckle, but is met with an uppercut from Cesaro. An interference from Sheamus allows Cesaro to hit a Neutralizer and pin the Miz. Cesaro wins
After the match, Shane McMahon attacks The Bar. He’s able to position Cesaro onto the announcers table and he climbs the top turnbuckle. Before he can leap onto Cesaro, Sheamus pushes McMahon off the turnbuckle and onto the barricade. The Bar attack McMahon and he ends up receiving a Brogue Kick from Sheamus. The pair turn their attention to the Miz and position him onto the announcers table. They then pick Shane McMahon up and drive him through both the Miz and the announcers table.

We come back as Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring. He brings out the two participants in the WWE Championship match, AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan refuses to step into the ring and go face to face with AJ Styles. Bryan says he is too embarrassed to step into the ring with Styles. He also says that a future with Styles as WWE Champion is an incompetent, illiterate future. Bryan says he is not the people’s champion, butt he is “The Planet’s Champion.” Styles calls Bryan fickle, which enrages Bryan. AJ Styles also says that Daniel Bryan is afraid to step into the ring with him. He also says that he is afraid of what is going to happen on Sunday. Styles says Bryan will have nothing left when he beats him.
Before Bryan can rebuttal, McMahon tells Brian to ge in the ring. Bryan tells McMahon he does not want to listen to what Bryan has to say because he does not want to hear about the damage that his generation has done. McMahon once again tells Brian to get into the ring.Bryan denies again, which causes Styles to attack Bryan on the outside. Styles is able to get the better of Bryan, sending him to the inside of the ring. Styles sets himself up for a Phenomenal Forearm, but before he can deliver it, Bryan pulls Mr. McMahon in front of him. Styles stops himself, but this allows Bryan to deliver a running knee.
Backstage, R Truth and Carmella talk about Truth entering the Rumble match at number thirty. Eventually, the pair run into Charlotte. Carmella tells Charlotte that the match will not be given to her like everything else is. Carmella tells Flair that she will win the match at the number thirty spot. (Commercial)
Samoa Joe vs. Mustafa Ali
The bell rings and Joe attacks Ali, knocking him to the outside of the ring. On the outside, Joe attempts to drive Ali into the ring post again, but Ali counters with a moonsault from the apron. Once back in the ring, Joe is able to floor Ali with a huge chop to the chest. After a quick exchange, Ali attempts to go for a springboard from the rope, but Joe is able to chop him in the throat before he leaps, sending Ali to the outside of the ring once again. (Commercial)
Back in the ring, Joe has control of the match as he delivers strikes to Ali in the corner. Joe continues to dominate. Ali’s attempts of getting out of trouble are repeatedly thwarted by Joe until he is able to deliver a facebuster to Joe. This leaves both men on the ground trying to answer the ten count. Both men stand and Ali is able to deliver multiple standing dropkicks that send Joe outside the ring. Ali is able to hit a suicide dive, one that does not gite down Joe. Once back in the ring, Ali delivers multiple superkicks, followed by a tornado ddt. He attempts a pin, but Joe kicks out at two. Ali goes to the top for an 054, but Joe is able to get up and lock in a Coquina Clutch, gaining the submission victory. Samoa Joe wins (Commercial)
Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio
The bell rings and Andrade quickly attacks his former idol. The two men quickly exchange holds, but Mysterio is able to deliver a hurricanrana that sent Andrade to the outside of the ring and another on the outside of the ring. (Commercial)
In the ring, Andrade is able to counter a flying crossbody from Mysterio with a dropkick to the midsection of Rey. After a pinfall attempt, Andrade attempts a hammerlock ddt, but Mysterio is able to fight out and try a pin attempt. After some fast paced action, Almas goes to the top rope, but Mysterio is able to meet him at the top. Mysterio attempts a hurricanrana from the top, but Andrade counters and delivers huge standing powerbomb from the top turnbuckle. He is able to pin Mysterio for the first pinfall.
Mysterio is very slow to get up after the first pinfall. He gets up and the bell rings again. Andrade grabs Mysterio and delivers a slingshot powerbomb, and he follows it up with a pin attempt. Mysterio is able to kick out at twp. Andrade goes for another powerbomb, but Mysterio counters and delivers a Canadian Destroyer. Mysterio is able to pin Andrade, evening the match up at one pinfall a piece. (Commercial)
We come back as Mysterio sends Andrade into the barricade on the outside of the ring. Mysterio then lands a huge enziguri, leaving Andrade on the mat. As Andrade gets up, Mysterio is able to deliver a slidin powerbomb to the barricade to Andrade. With Andrade in the ring, Mysterio hits Almas with a West Coast Pop. Andrade is able to kick out of a pin at two. Mysterio goes for a 619, but Andrade is able to catch the arm and lock in an armbar on the ropes. He then begins to isolate the arm of Mysterio. However, Andrade is able to fight back and deliver a hammerlock ddt. He goes for the pin near the ropes, and this allows Mysterio to get his leg on the rope before the three count.
Andrade continues to attack the left arm of Mysterio. Mysterio is able to fight back, momentarily. As Andrade looks to have taken control, Mysterio delivers a frankensteiner that drives Andrade head first into the mat. Mysterio is able to connect with a 619 to Andrade. Before he is able to deliver a splash, Samoa Joe emerges from the crowd and delivers a huge powerbomb to Mysterio. He sends Andrade shoulder first into the corner and then proceeds to lock in the Coquina Clutch onto Mysterio in the middle of the ring. No Contest
Samoa Joe grabs a microphone and says that he came here to make a statement. He says that this is what he’s going to do to the other 29 men in the Royal Rumble. Before he is able to finish his sentence, Randy Orton come from out of nowhere and lands a huge RKO.
The night ends with Randy Orton standing tall in the ring.
