WWE Smackdown Results (10/28/2011) - Suddenly, A Supershow

  • Author:
  • Updated:

The show opens with a video package recapping the battle between Mark Henry and Big Show. After the opening video, Smackdown's General Manager Teddy Long is standing in the ring with a mic in hand. He says that after the extraordinary events that happened at Vengeance, both men are injured, bruised, but they are here tonight. And Teddy promises everyone that the future of the World Heavyweight Title will be adressed tonight.

Christian's music interrupts Teddy as he enters the ring. He says that the future of the World Heavyweight Championship will be adressed right now. He says no one has any doubts that what happened between Henry and Show at Vengeance was historic. And by that, he means that it is now part of history. As far as Christian's concerned, Big Show had his opportunity and he blew it. So that leaves a huge void on the World Heavyweight Championship situation. Captain Charisma says that void will be filled by the man that has dominated the Smackdown brand for the past five months. Teddy interrupts Christian by stating that the last time he saw Christian he was getting his head kicked out of his shoulder by Sheamus. Christian said that's called resilliency, that's the true measure of a champion, and that's what Christian is. So, he begs for Long to find a better man than him. Because he knows, Teddy knows...

CM Punk's music interrupts Christian's promo. After he makes his way to the ring, Christian continues by saying that before he was rudely interrupted, he was going to say that he deserves one more match. With that being said, Christian asks Teddy why Punk is here and why he's interrupting him. Teddy says that before he was so rudely interrupted by Christian, he was going to announce that since recently Raw has enjoyed using Smackdown talent, he pulled some strings and arranged for some Raw superstars to be here tonight for a Smackdown Supershow. And Punk continues by saying that before he was rudely interrupted, for he was planning to speak right away, but because Christian's yakking he didn't said thanks to Teddy Long for having him here, and it's good to be here, and it's very nice to be on a show with some competent leadership for once. Christian laughs and says obviously Punk has never met Teddy Long before. Punk answers by saying that Christian obviously has never spent one minute with John Laurinaitis, because he's not so hot. For Punk, Teddy makes John look worse than he is, if that's even possible. He says that John Laurinaitis makes Teddy Long look like Roosevelt. Long thanks him. Punk says it's not really a compliment, but he digresses. Punk says he's here because he is a huge fan of Christian, who he calls "Rusty Bird". He says Christian is awesome, and notes he sees a sign that says "1 More Match". He says he would like to see Christian get one more match, he's a fan of his wrestling ability, but the problem he has is that every time Christian opens his mouth, he...

Christian interrupts Punk once again, not believing that CM Punk is gonna lecture him. The same guy that hijacked the WWE Championship this summer and left the company. He knows CM Punk thinks that what he did was cool and Earth-shattering, but Christian thought that was a complete joke, just like he considers a joke the fact that Laurinaitis is even considering The Voice Of The Voiceless for a WWE title match against Alberto Del Rio.

Punk says that maybe that's why John Laurinaitis is so bad at his job. Maybe he's trying to set Punk up or maybe he's really considering giving him the title shot, because unlike Christian, Punk doesn't waste people's time with bitching, and moaning, and bitching, and bitching, and bitching, and bitching... And bitching.

Christian says he doesn't care if Punk was invited or not, and as the leader of the Smackdown brand, and the most respected man in the locker room, he says he isn't standing it any more, and tells Punk to take his pipe bomb and hit the bricks back to Raw, because nobody wants him here. Punk mocks Christian by faking a childish sadness, asking if nobody wants him here. He says that about 10,000 people in Houston seem to want him here. He bets harder money that the people here want to see him in a match tonight. And his Magic 8 Ball says they want to see him in a match with Christian. He asks Teddy Long, and Teddy says it's on. Punk says "holler, holler, holler" and leaves as Christian shouts at Teddy Long.

The announcers plug Air Boom vs. Miz & Truth as next. We go for a break.

Back from the break, Awesome Truth make their way to the ring and their recent attacks against John Cena are show, as their match is now.

WWE Tag Team Champions Air Boom vs. The Miz & R-Truth - non-title match

Kofi and Miz start things for their teams. They circle each other, R-Truth distracts Kingston when he comes near his corner, allowing Miz to take advantage with punches and then several clinch knees followed by a running knee. R-Truth tags in and kicks Kingston in the gut. Kingston threatens to fight back but Truth pounds him with some club fists. He punches Kofi hard in the face and whips him to a corner. When he runs towards Kingston though, the Tag Team Champion lifts his feet to counter. He then proceeds to bring Truth to his corner where he tags Evan Bourne in. They simultaneously kick R-Truth's legs and then use a double running bulldog. Bourne covers but only gets a one count. Bourne then bounces off the ropes and hits a running hurricanrana, followed by a dropkick in the corner. He whips R-Truth and runs towards him. Truth back body drops Evan over the top rope. He lands on the apron, blocks Truth's punch and hits a kick to the side of the head. Miz then distracts Bourne, allowing for Truth to recover and punch Bourne to the outside. While the ref is telling Truth not to do that, Miz delivers a clothesline on Evan on the outside. Truth gets out of the ring and delivers a hard slap on Bourne as we go for a break.

Back from the break, The Miz is controlling the match with a submission hold on Evan Bourne. He tries to fight back hitting an elbow to the gut and some kicks to the legs, but Miz dodges his jumping knee attempt. Miz drags Bourne to the corner and tags R-Truth in, who attacks Bourne with a kick to the gut. Truth and Miz hit a big boot sequence that gets Truth a two count. R-Truth puts Evan in a front facelock. Evan fights out of it with some leg kicks and tries to escape by going under Truth's legs, but Truth holds him off by his leg. Truth tries a clothesline, but Bourne ducks and hits a step-up enzuigiri. After that, they both tag in their respective partners. Kofi and Miz enter the ring with Kofi getting the better of The Awesome One, with a jumping clothesline, two karate chops, a dropkick and another leaping clothesline. The leader of the Boom Squad signals for the Boom Drop, but Miz rolls out of the way early. Kofi tries to get him, but the Cleveland Loudmouth shoves him off. Kofi tries a bronco buster, Miz ducks, but Kingston jumps to the top rope and delivers a cross body. R-Truth breaks up the cover. Bourne delivers a jumping knee that sends R-Truth outside, but when he goes for a vaulting body press, Truth ducks and Bourne lands on the floor. Back in the ring, Miz counters Kingston with a boot, Truth tags himself in, and they hit the Little Jimmy Finale. R-Truth covers and this one is over.

Winners: R-Truth & The Miz via pinfall

After the match, Miz and Truth deliver a promo. Truth tells to the people not to boo him, they should be booing themselves. For those keeping count, they just beat the Tag Team Champions. At Vengeance, they beat Punk and HHH. At Raw, they destroyed Ryder and gave John Cena a beating. Miz says in fact, they beat Cena up so bad, he had to get another partner to face them at Survivor Series, The Rock. Truth thinks they beat Cena to brain damage because he picked as a partner the only man on Earth that hates him more than they do. Miz says that's fine and dandy, because if Rock accepts Cena's offer, and they don't destroy each other beforehand, Miz & Truth will finish the job at Survivor Series.

The announcers plug the World Heavyweight Championship Status Adress and the Christian vs. CM Punk main for tonight as we go for a break.

Back from the break, several superstars are backstage watching the Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels DVD. Among them is Daniel Bryan. Gabriel asks Bryan if Shawn really trained him. Bryan says Shawn trained him for a while when he started in San Antonio, and it was amazing how passionate he was, and how Shawn would just fly around the ring... Tyson Kidd interrupts applauding and congratulating Bryan, followed by asking Bryan if he saw the DVD, and which moment he liked the most: when Shawn cried at the beginning, the middle or the end of it. Bryan says that Bret cried on the DVD too. Kidd asks about when Shawn lost his smile, if Bryan got tears out of that too. Bryan answers he didn't. Kidd says everybody knows Bret was better. Bryan says that Michaels was Mr. Wrestlemania, Mr. Hall Of Fame... Kidd asks everyone who they think is better. Santino Marella says that the locker room is no place to dispute such things. They should fight in the ring like men, just like Shawn and Bret did. Kidd says that "this clown" is actually right. He says he hopes Bryan doesn't cry after the Sharpshooter.

Hornswoggle is shown fist pumping with Zack Ryder's gear on. Teddy says Zack would appreciate that and it's a shame what happened to him on Raw. Vickie Guerrero, Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler appear. Vickie says that what happened to Teddy's assistant on Raw is what Teddy got for making Dolph compete twice on the same night. Dolph says that despite Long's best effort, he did what he does best, he stole the show, beat Ryder, and is still U.S. Champion, so next time Teddy wants to mess with him, he's gonna have to step up his game. Teddy says he didn't put Ziggler in that match to mess with him, just like isn't doing so tonight. Vickie says that there is no match tonight. Long says there is, and it's against Randy Orton. They yell at Long for a while, than Swagger says they got this. Long says "they" don't got this, because Swagger is banned from ringside. Hornswoggle taunt them with the "Woo Woo Woo" getsure as they leave. Teddy tells him to settle down. The saxofone starts playing, so you know Aksana is coming. Teddy says he hasn't seen her in a while, and he wants her to know he really missed her. She says that Teddy doesn't know how much she missed him. Aksana asks if that was a "group set". Teddy says that it isn't what she's thinking. He invites Aksana to go to his office and they will talk about this.

After that, the medical update says that HHH suffered a concussion and a fractured vertebrae, and the doctors says he'll be out of action for at least six weeks. Wade Barrett enters the ring, as he has a match next.

Back from the break and before Barrett's match, we see a promo in which Wade says last week was just the beginning. When he steps in the ring, it becomes his trench. The arena, his battlefield. Before the bell rings, Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring, as he's joining the announcing booth. The match doesn't really start until Cody is seated. Randy signals for the RKO. He goes for it, but Ziggler escapes and connects with a super kick. He covers but pulls Orton's legs too much and he escapes from under. Ziggler tries for a Sleeper Hold, but Orton holds on to the ropes, fends Ziggler off, and hits the RKO for the three count.

Winner: Randy Orton via pinfall

After Orton's victory, Rhodes storms off with his baggers as Randy stares at him. The announcers plug the Sin Caras situation, including the Mask vs. Mask match where Sin Cara Negro lost his mask. We go for a backstage interview with him, now unmasked. He says, in a mix of English and Spanish, that Sin Cara Azul stole his identity, his life. Now he will be the only one (in Spanish, único. His name in FCW was Hunico). The only one with a face. What he suffered, Sin Cara will suffer. He took something from his heart, and now he will suffer, that's for sure. It's payback time. He says "Viva los vatos locos, esse", and leaves.

The announcers plug the World Heavyweight Championship status adress and the main event.

He says that the match rules will be specified by him on Raw next week, and he will quit if JR beats him. Big Show enters the ring, as he adresses his situation with Mark Henry next.

Back from the break, they show pictures of the ring collapse at Vengeance. Big Show starts by saying "Oops, I did it again". He's been in this business for sixteen years and fought the greatest this business has to offer. Right now he's hurting in places he didn't even know he had. He says Mark Henry was an absolute monster that night, and he doesn't think he ever had a match with someone as powerful as Henry. He gives Henry credit for giving him one heck of a good fight. After all of those years fighting, we would think Big Show has learned a lesson, but he says he isn't quite right on the head, so right now what he's thinking is to get the ring reinforce and do this again. He looked into Henry's eyes, and he knows that without a doubt he can beat Mark Henry, he can take the title from Mark Henry. He was in a meeting with Teddy Long, and Teddy assured him they will have another match.

Mark Henry's music interrupts Big Show. After he makes his way to the steps, Henry says that he doesn't care who Show talked to. Henry entered Vengeance champion and he left champion. He handled his business and he's done with Show. He left the match sored and beaten because of the ring. Show was sored and beaten because of him. But he didn't made a good enough job because Show is still talking, so maybe if he puts his foot on Show's mouth he will stop. He threatens to get in the ring, but puts his hand on the back and leaves. They stare as Henry lifts his World Heavyweight Championship.
