Stephanie McMahon stated at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit in Laguna Niguel, California last week that WWE would love to work with Ronda Rousey again. Stephanie even said she’s “loosely talked to” Rousey about it.
Rousey first appeared for WWE in a surprise appearance alongside The Rock at Wrestlemania 31. They had hoped to followup on it this year, however, with Rousey’s shocking loss to Holly Holm along a busy filming schedule, they weren't about to do it. Now, with Rousey returning to the octagon to fight Amanda Nunes for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship, her focus is obviously back on fighting.
Rousey has expressed interested in the evolution of women’s wrestling, something she spoke candidly about in an interview with Rolling Stone last year:
"I've seen NXT, I remember Nattie and Charlotte's match for the title," Rousey said last year. "Nattie was actually training with the original Four Horsewomen to get ready for that fight. I have so many obligations, but I really want to find a way to make it happen. I'm a huge fan wrestling, and I would like to see the position of women in the sport continue to improve, so if I can be a part of it, great.”
Rousey has stated that her title fight against Nunes at UFC 207 later this month will be one of her last fights. Many believe she will pursue a career in acting, although a WWE run can obviously not be ruled out.
