TMZ Sports is reporting that Sting’s wrestling career is over and he’ll retire with his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions as the final bout of his career.
Sting suffered cervical spinal stenosis after being injured during several of the Buckle Bomb spots in that match. Doctors have advised Sting to hang up the boots rather than risk permanent injury by returning to the squared circle.
The condition is similar to what forced Edge to retire in 2011 and Sting will reportedly make the announcement official at the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony next month in Texas. Sting will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the Saturday before Wrestlemania 32 by Ric Flair.
