The show opens with a video package highlighting the brand warfare theme of tonight's show and the recent back and forth between the two rosters over the last couple of weeks. Just about every match on the card gets some time in the video package, but the main focus is really on Raw vs. Smackdown, which is nice for making every match seem important.
Michael Cole welcomes us to the show and immediately notes that it's the one night a year Raw and Smackdown face off, and tonight we'll find out who the real 'A show' is.
Big E tells the fans in the audience to clap their hands and feel the power. New Day make their way out to a nice pop from the crowd.
New Day have mics in hand and Woods says tonight in this match it will be The Shield against ya boys, the New Day. He thinks the crowd likes them better. He says while this is good fanfic material, this is where they show the world that they're the most dominant faction to ever step foot in the WWE. Kofi says last week Raw GM Kurt Angle took Smackdown under siege and unleashed the hounds of justice. It only took three weeks to steal their idea, and they couldn't even do it as well. The only thing proven beyond a shadow of a doubt is that the hounds of justice have a big set of dangling guts, but boys will be boys and New Day are about to go bark bark. Big E says it's a dog eat dog world, and when WrestleMania season creeps up, Dean, Roman or Seth will turn. But there's no greater brotherhood than New Day, and that's because New Day Rocks!
We get a video recap of Smackdown laying waste to Raw's roster several weeks ago, along with the more recent history between New Day and the Shield, including New Day helping cost Dean and Seth the tag titles via distraction. We also get a look at the Shield coming to Smackdown to bring the fight to New Day, and when we cut back to the ring, Big E is gyrating while Kofi dances and Woods plays the trombone.
The Shield's music hits, and Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns make their way down through the crowd to a huge pop.
