WWE Extreme Rules 2015

Down Below is the full line-up for WWE’s Extreme Rules Pay-Per View that will be taking place live on the WWE Network Tonight, along with mine and Thomas’ predictions!

AJ Styles vs Rusev for the WWE Championship

In my opinion, I feel like this match came out of nowhere, as Rusev has been built and booked poorly these last few months, regardless of the popularity he has grown with his ‘Rusev Day’ act, along with Aiden English. People are starting to grow tired of Style’s run as champion, but I don’t see him losing here. He was presented as the cover star for their upcoming game WWE 2K19 a month ago. This will probably be a one and done feud before the SummerSlam storylines kick into full gear.

Ryan Predicts: AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship.

Thomas Predicts: AJ retains over Rusev, no reason to take the title off of Styles at this point. Since winning the belt last November, he has proved to the be most consistent champion (that appears) on both brands.

Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley

Even with last week’s brawl, I can’t say that I’m looking forward to this. Lashley has butchered the mic time he has been given, and it has been quite terrible in my opionion. The program has been dry for me since WWE started in this direction. I’m going with my gut instinct and saying this will end in a double count out or no contest, and this is carried through SummerSlam.

Ryan Predicts: Draw between Reigns and Lashley

Thomas Predicts: I know the plan going into this match was not to get the fans to boo Roman and the fans to cheer Bobby, but that seems to be happening. Their angles have been built well considering in the beginning, no one cared about Lashley, and the majority of us know the reaction Reigns will recieve. The real question here is if the winner is going to SummerSlam to have Brock Lesnar or are we going to see another multi-man match or gimmick set tournament to determine a number one contender. I have so many feelings on this. First of all, Brock has not lost a one on one match to anyone under the age of 40 during his entire return to the company, with losses to Goldberg, Cena, and Triple H. They have not given the rub against Brock and sure as hell has not built a star. Roman has tried and tried again and frankly, and fans aside, he doesn’t need the rub. Bobby is also north of 40 and I don’t see WWE not putting faith in him to be their top guy. So this brings up a bigger question, do you have Brock lose to either of these men and give them the rub, or do you have Brock go over and then Braun comes out to cash in his Money in the Bank Briefcase? While that finish works for most, you are feeding Brock a win, and another guy a loss. Could you have Reigns beat Lesnar, and have Braun cash in? Yeah, but why? Why give Brock a loss and rub to Roman for one minute later? These are the bigger questions to who should be winning at Extreme Rules. As I have stated on twitter before, the perfect play to have a star be made in McIntyre, even though booking should have started weeks ago. Have him win a fatal 4 way and face Brock at SummerSlam, and beat him clean, giving him the rub. While this will not likely happen, there is no one on the Raw brand wbo could pull it off besides him. Back to the match, it’s a coin flip. I’ll go with Bobby because it would be a better story between him and Brock. But again, does the winner of the match even matter?

Braun Strowman vs Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage Match

For weeks we have seen Strowman chase Kevin Owens around the Raw arena, tormenting him. Now, Kurt Angle booked the two in a Steel Cage. Braun Smash.

Ryan Predicts: Braun Strowman defeats Kevin Owens.

Thomas Predicts: Braun Strowman

The Bludgeon Brothers vs Team Hell No for the WWE Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship

Harper and Rowan have definitely proved they deserve to be the top tag team on the blue brand for sure, and the reunion of Bryan and Kane will be short lived as The Miz will intervene, costing the two the match. With the talks of Miz vs Bryan at SummerSlam, I see this happening.

Ryan Predicts: The Bludgeon Brothers defeat Team Hell No

Thomas Predicts: With Kane’s recent injury, I expect Bryan to work most of the match. I even expect to have Kane get laid out early. I don’t see any reason to not have Team Hell No run for another month and have them capture the tag teams championships. With WWE not giving Bryan that main event run until her renews his deal, why not have a nice moment and win the titles. Hell No wins.

Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match for the Intercontinental Championship

Honestly, I could watch these two wrestle for the entire ppv, and I would be okay with that. These two have proved that they can and will steal the show at Extreme Rules. It’s a toss up for me as to who I think would win. Being biased, I would love to have Rollins win the championship. On the other side of the fence, Dolph needs this win to carry the prestige that Rollins brought to the IC title. With the help of McIntyre in the end, Ziggler retains and defeats Rollins in a match of the year candidate.

Ryan Predicts: Dolph Ziggler Defeats Seth Rollins 1-0 to retain the Interncontinental Championship

Thomas Predicts: This is the match majority of the fans want to see. Minus the sexual sheep reference to Drew on Monday, the in-ring and mic work has been built up well. I’m guessing this goes overtime. With Rollins losing to McIntyre on Monday, logic means Rollins retains. However, since when has logic meant a thing? I’m going with a Ziggler win.

Jeff Hardy vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship

The heel character of Nakamura has been good thus far, besides him losing all the matches against AJ Styles. He needs this win more than an injured Jeff Hardy, who loses nothing in a loss in this match.

Ryan Predicts: Shinsuke Nakamura defeats Jeff Hardy to capture the United States Championship

Thomas Predicts: While the heel Nakamura has been great, losing to AJ so many times did his character no favors. Jeff is banged up and Vince loves heel non U.S. star holding the U.S. Championship. Nakamura wins.

Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax in an Extreme Rules Match for the Raw Women’s Championship

With the current heat on Nia Jax, and the cash in that Bliss did last month, there’s no way we see a title change here. I expect we see a ton of kendo stick shots and a fairly decent story told match. Let’s not forget we have Ronda Rousey supposedly to be front row during this match, and we see her get involved.

Ryan Predicts: Alexa Bliss retains the Raw Women’s Championship and defeats Nia Jax

Thomas Predicts: Alexa over Nia. Somehow Ronda gets involved and costs Jax the match, setting up Rousey and Alexa at SummerSlam.

Carmella vs Asuka for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship with James Ellsworth suspended above the ring in a shark cage

I enjoy Carmella. I enjoy Asuka. I enjoy Ellsworth. But can someone please explain this feud is still going on? Asuka lost her streak and she got lost in the shuffle. Time for someone like Nikki Cross to get involved and cost Asuka the match, and we have a real feud going on here.

Ryan Predicts: Carmella defeats Asuka to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship

Thomas Predicts: Asuka has been made to look less than the brightest crayon in the box lately and after losing her win streak, her character has lost its luster. This one is a coin flip for me, with this being a shark cage stipulation, Ellsworth plays a factor. I’m going with the Shark Cage gimmick dropping and back firing. Asuka wins.

Deleter of Worlds vs The B-Team for the Raw Tag Team Championships

This match has a chance to be good, but I feel like they will have a short amount of time for the match itself. Both teams work well together, but I think Axel and Dallas will get the upset and we see new tag champs.

Ryan Predicts: The B-Team defeats Deleter of Worlds for the Raw Tag Team Championships

Thomas Predicts: Bray and Matt retain... Yes, that’s it.

Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin

Can I please just state this, this new Corbin looks like Corparate Kane, I can’t be the only one who thinks that. As for the match, if you don’t follow these two on Twitter, you wouldn’t know they throw constant jabs at each other. This match has potential to be fun and I’m somewhat excited to see what’s in store. I’m going with with a Balor win here.

Ryan Predicts: Finn Balor defeats Baron Corbin

Thomas Predicts: Why isn’t this hair vs hair stipulation? I say this because Corbin shaved his head. Why was this not placed into storyline? It would have been much more fitting and would have given Finn more of a rub had he shaved Corbin’s hair, but that’s the old school fan in me. I’m going with a Balor win here, as he needs the win and Corbin can lose.

Kick-off Match between The New Day vs SAnitY in a Tables Match

This will be a crazy match to get the crowd into this lack luster ppv, and I see a SAnitY win tonight.

Ryan Predicts: SAnitY defeats The New Day in a Tables Match

Thomas Predicts: SAnitY wins with an assist from Nikki Cross rejoining the group

Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas vs Sin Cara

The match these two produced last week on Smackdown was beautiful and I expect the same. Almas continues the win streak.

Ryan Predicts: Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas defeats Sin Cara

Thom Predicts: Almas and any other finish to this match, the fans should leave.
