WWE Hell In A Cell Results

From the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts
Report by Sean Hopkins of WrestlingNewsWorld.com
The show opens with a video package highlighting the main feuds heading into tonight. Of course a good deal of time is spent on the history-making Hell in a Cell match featuring Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, but Reigns vs. Rusev and Rollins vs. Owens get their fair share of time as well. There's a ton of Cell imagery, and hearing a Foley promo over top of shots of the Cell is pretty eerie. It's a very well-done package until about halfway through when the rock n' roll guitar kicks in and the creepy HIAC theme is pretty much abandoned.
Back in the arena the pyro hits and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show. The Cell is already down surrounding the ring and we're ready to begin right away as Lana makes her way out to the top of the entrance ramp. Lana asks America to stand and welcome the true American hero, the man that will crush Roman Reigns inside Hell in a Cell, your soon to be three time US Champion, her husband, the Bulgarian brute, Rusev!
Roman Reigns is out next, and he's already getting massive heat before his music hits. The moment the music starts, he gets a few cheers, but Roman's mixed reaction is skewed much more to the negative in Boston.
Cole notes while Roman walks slowly toward the ring, that this is Roman's second Cell match, and it's also the first time the WWE United States Championship will be defended in the Cell.
WWE United States Championship Hell In A Cell Match
Roman Reigns vs. Rusev
The lock goes on the door, and the ref calls for the bell. Reigns and Rusev circle each other before Rusev goes for a wild right. Reigns blocks it and punches Rusev into the corner. Rusev fights back, coming up with a couple of big clubbing blows before burying his shoulder in Reigns' midsection. Reigns fires back with a couple of rights, but runs right into a back elbow. Rusev sends Reigns out and there are actually dueling 'let's go Rusev'/'Rusev sucks' chants. Both men try to send the other into the Cell wall, but can't and bring things back into the ring. Rusev goes on the assault in the corner, punching and head butting Reings. Rusev hits the ropes and runs right into a big clothesline from Reigns. Rusev responds by sending Reigns into the ropes and kicking him in the ribs. Reigns responds, sending Rusev out to the floor. Rusev climbs to the apron and Reigns charges into him, sending him flying off the apron into the Cell wall.
Reigns picks Rusev up on the floor and launches him into the Cell wall. Reigns picks up Rusev again, running alongside and slamming him into the wall once more. Reigns looks around, then says he's got an idea. Rusev is able to rake Reigns' eyes to get in a bit of offense. Rusev tries to whip Reigns into the ring steps, but Reigns is able to turn things around and send Rusev into the steps instead.
Reigns pulls a table out from under the ring, but Rusev is right there to send Reigns crashing into the Cell wall. Rusev follows Reigns around the corner and plants him against the Cell wall with a big running splash. Rusev bounces Reigns off the ring post before raking his face against the Cell wall. Rusev picks Reigns up to his feet and slams his face into the ring post before sending Roman back into the ring. Rusev stomps away repeatedly at Roman while the announcers speculate about a very small cut on Rusev's arm. Reigns begins fighting back with right hands and kicks, then Rusev whips Reigns into the corner hard to stop his momentum for a two count.
Rusev backs Reigns into the corner and hits him with a couple of splashes, but when he goes for a third, Reigns side-steps it. Rusev responds with a hip toss, but misses with a diving head butt, and both men are down.
Reigns backs Rusev into the corner and hits him with a series of clotheslines, hammering away at the big man. Roman hits the ropes and charges in with a running big boot that wipes out Rusev. Reigns cocks his fist, but Rusev sees it coming and bails to the floor. Roman heads out after him and he tries for the drive-by, but Rusev counters with a giant clothesline to the chest. Rusev drives Reigns into the ring steps with a hard whip.
Rusev picks up Reigns and drives him into the Cell wall, then Rusev turns and picks up some of the ring steps. Rusev waits, then charges in, hitting Roman in the shoulder with the ring steps. Rusev waits for Roman to stand, then charges in with the steps again. Rusev tosses the ring steps back into the ring, then he brings in Roman as well. Rusev shoulders Roman, then charges him into the Cell wall face first. Rusev goes back over to the table, which the fans have been chanting for since Roman introduced it. Rusev grabs a kendo stick instead, but he's interrupted with a drive-by kick from Roman. Roman grabs the stick and stalks Rusev around the ring, hitting him repeatedly across the back and the stomach with the stick. Rusev lays across the ring steps and Reigns blasts him with the stick. Reigns sends Rusev back into the ring, but Rusev kicks the middle rope into Roman's crotch when he climbs back into the ring to stop him in his tracks. Rusev locks up Reigns, trapping his arms in between the middle and top rope. Rusev grabs the stick and uses it to tattoo Reigns' stomach with repeated kendo stick shots. Rusev hits nine in a row before breaking the stick across his knee. Rusev hits the ropes, but Reigns breaks out and lays out Rusev with a leaping clothesline for two.
Both men are slow to get to their feet, and when they do they immediately begin trading right hands. Rusev gets the upper hand with repeated rights, but when he hits the ropes, Reigns shoulders him right away. Reigns drops Rusev down, blasts him with a right hand, misses a Superman punch, but recovers and connects with a second attempt. Rusev goes down but he won't stay down for a three count.
Reigns pulls himself up in the corner, but when he tries for the spear, Rusev catches him with a superkick. Rusev drives Reigns face first into the ring steps laid on top of the corner turnbuckle, and Rusev goes right for the pin, but Reigns is still able to kick out at two.
Rusev stomps down square on Reigns' back before locking in the Accolade in the middle of the ring. Reigns begins fighting back, trying to work his way over to the bottom rope. Rusev pulls him back but Reigns gets up to his feet. Rusev scores with a big kick to the side of Roman's head, and Reigns' body slides limply to the outside. Rusev goes back under the ring again, bypassing the table and grabbing a chain. Rusev wraps the chain around his fist, then charges in toward Roman. Roman stops Rusev cold with a series of right hands before sending things back into the ring. Rusev's got the chain again and he blasts Roman in the gut, then across the back. Reigns rears back and slams the chain down against Roman's spine over and over again.
Rusev grabs more ring steps, bringing them into the ring again. Rusev props the steps up on their side before going over to Roman. Roman blasts Rusev with a big right hand, then a head butt. Rusev slams Roman's head off the steps, whip him into the steps, then follows up with a superkick, but it's still not enough for three. Rusev picks up Roman and lays him on top of the ring steps. Rusev grabs the chain and climbs up, locking in the Accolade on top of the ring steps, while wrapping the chain around Reigns' face. Rusev wrenches back on the chain and Reigns still refuses to give up. Reigns is able to slip out of the hold and he turns things over, shouldering Rusev and dropping him on the steps with a Samoan drop.
Rusev stands slowly, and Reigns spears him off the ring steps and to the mat. Roman pins Rusev, and this one is over.
Winner and STILL WWE United States Champion: Roman Reigns
Following the match, the announcer's recap the events from this past Monday when Seth Rollins pinned both Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens at the same time in a triple-threat match. They also recap that following the match, Owens powerbombed Seth Rollins into the ring apron.
Rollins is shown smiling backstage as he watches the footage. Owens says Rollins didn't look like much of a winner after the match. Beaten down, wrecked, broken, those are words that are best to describe Seth after that. Seth had Kevin for three seconds, so good for him. But considering Seth spent the night writhing in pain, he doesn't sound like a winner. Last time Owens did something like that to someone, it was John Cena, and it took him weeks to recover. Owens can't figure out why Rollins wants this match, because Rollins won't be able to prove he's the man. What Owens does to Rollins is going to make the war that Rusev and Reigns had look like a cake walk. Owens said he's going to leave a scar on Rollins and everyone watching. He won't be able to call himself the man, because he won't look like one. You won't be able to call Seth winner, but Owens will still the Universal Champion, and that makes him The Man.
Bayley makes her way out into the arena for the next match, and she gets a warm welcome from the fans in attendance, especially when her dancing tube men pop up, of course.

After a couple of commercials, Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are shown. They're talking about how tonight could be one of the greatest, but they immediately shift their focus to Survivor Series, and how they'll dominate Raw in the competitive elimination matches, as well as Lesnar vs. Goldberg. Chris Jericho comes in and talks about how Stephanie will have to be careful with who she selects to represent Raw. He talks about all of the great options that Daniel Bryan and Shane have to fill Smackdown's team. Foley and Stephanie ask whether or not this has a point. Jericho teases putting both of them on the list, letting Foley know that it would be the third time being put on the list. He says that Foley needs to watch... IT. Jericho says he thinks Stephanie's first choice to represent Raw should be Jericho, and the second should be Kevin Owens. Jericho says that team Chris and Kevin should be co-captains for Team Raw. Foley says Jericho should wonder if his partner can make it out of the Cell in one piece. Jericho writes something on the list sneakily before walking off while Foley shakes his head and mutters something under his breath.
Back in the arena, Enzo and Cass make their way down the aisle to a big pop from the crowd. Obviously they've got mics in hand. Enzo lets us know his name, and that he's a certified G, and a bona fide stud. He lets us know you can't teach that. He also talks for a bit about Cass' height, and how that too cannot be learned. The Certified GPS, it's got a cuppa' haters to address. The Club, AKA Andy and the Big Gal. Gallows may be a big Gal, but Enzo's been with women bigger than him. Cass says big girls don't cry, but they surely need some lovin' too. Cass reiterates that Gallows is the Big Gal, and Anderson is Andy. Cass says his confidence is at a million, because Anderson is like Times New Roman, as generic as it gets. Enzo continues to go on with some metaphor about how they're going to eat up The Club, and Cass talks about flipping them the Larry Bird. Cass calls Gallows a sloppy jalopy, and tonight, says he's going to go hard upside his head like Big Papi. Enzo tells Andy that this is HIAC, not Toy Story, but he's got a strong feeling that when tonight's over, he's going to have to call Big Cass 'Woody', because he's going to have Andy tattooed to the bottom of his boot. After a bit more jawing, Cass spells out the one word to describe The Club, S-A-W-F-T, SAWFT!
Anderson and Gallows are out next, not getting much of a reaction on their way down to the ring.

After the final couple of commercials, and a video package highlighting a good deal of the history of Women's wrestling in the WWE (it includes Moolah, Cyndi Lauper, Lita, Trish Stratus, and more), we're finally ready for the (HISTORIC, HISTORY MAKING) main event.
Charlotte is the first competitor to make her way out for the next match, and the challenger is walked down to the ring on a throne carried by four guys who kneel to allow her to step into the ring.
Sasha Banks is out next, and the Boss gets a very warm welcome from her hometown crowd with huge 'We want Sasha' chants before her music even starts. Sasha comes out in an Escalade, standing up out of the sun roof and standing on top of the SUV and holding her title up.
Adding to the sense of importance of this match, the cage was not lowered beforehand, and in addition to formal ring introductions, we're going to get a formal lowering of the Cell.
