WWE announced on this week's episode of Main Event the show will not air live next Tuesday on the WWE Network. Instead, the show will be replaced by Santino Marella's Royal Rumble Lottery Special.
As for why this is being done, apparently an issue exists with WWE's TV distribution agreement with Sky Sports -- the company's TV partner in the UK -- over the first run rights to WWE Main Event. The WWE Network will officially launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland next Monday, however, is already available on all platforms.
It's unknown when WWE Main Event will return to the WWE Network.
What's interesting is that WWE's agreement with Ion Television in the United States allowed for Main Event to air on the WWE Network before it aired on Ion, premiering the show a night earlier. Clearly, there is some type of exclusivity clause in the agreement with Sky that was not included in the US distribution agreement and I would imagine this played into the delays of the WWE Network launch in the UK and Ireland.
