WWE NXT Results (2/17/16) - Joe vs. Zayn Ends In Controversy Once Again

The show starts with a video package on tonight's main event - Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe in a #1 Contender's Match

Tom Phillips and Corey Graves bring in the show from commentary.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady make their way to the ring while cutting a promo. Carmella is not with them tonight. Their partners for tonight, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable, enter next. Blake, Murphy, and Alexa Bliss are out next. NXT Tag Team Champions Dash & Dawson enter last.

Enzo Amore, Big Cass, & American Alpha vs. Blake, Murphy, Dash & Dawson

Gable and Dawson start the match. The crowd is hot for Gable as they lock up. Dawson pushes Gable off and they lock up again. Gable works the left arm and attempts to go for a cover. Dawson rolls around until he reaches the bottom rope. They lock up again, Dawson takes Gable to the heel corner. A tag is made but all eight men get in the ring and stare down before brawling. The babyfaces stand tall until the heels slip back in and another brawl ensues. The heels are once again tossed out as we go to break.

Blake has Gable in a headlock on the mat as we come back. Blake rolls Gable up real quick. Dawson tags back in to work on Gable, cover. Dawson tags in and he covers Gable. Murphy tags in to stomp on Gable in the corner. Blake comes back in, throwing a right hand to the gut. Dawson kicks Gable before hitting a clothesline, cover. Dawson slams Gable before tagging Dash in for the cover. Dash puts Gable in a headlock. Dash clotheslines Enzo off the apron before Cass strikes him. Gable tags Jordan and Dash tags Dawson.

Jordan unloads with dropkicks as Cass kicks and slams others. Cass sends Dawson into Jordan for a belly to belly. Cass tosses Blake onto his partners outside the ring. Jordan spears Dawson and Gable hits the back body slam, but Dash breaks the cover. Gable and Dash go over the rope and Cass launches Enzo onto Dawson for the three.

Winners: Enzo, Big Cass, & American Alpha - by pinfall (8:56)

The babyfaces celebrate together in the ring.

Alex interviews Deonna Purrazzo backstage. She discusses her previous match with Asuka. Dana Brooke and Emma walk up. Dana says Deonna hasn't learned a thing about respect. They call her pathetic and wish her luck because she'll need it in her rematch against Asuka tonight.

Deonna Purrazzo makes her way to the ring. Asuka enters next.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Asuka

Asuka kicks at Deonna. They get closer and Asuka unloads with several kicks to the legs and chest. Deonna throws a punch, but Deonna is taken down with a knee bar. Deonna does a crossbody into a quick cover. Asuka gets angry as Deonna throws forearms to the face. Asuka takes a slap before throwing a stiff right hand. Deonna jumps from the top and is kicked in the stomach. Asuka goes for an ankle lock. Asuka hits a German Suplex into a bridging cover. Asuka locks up an arm. Asuka strikes and kicks Deonna a few more times for the cover and three.

Winner: Asuka - by pinfall (2:51)

We see footage of last week's main event where Bayley beat Carmella to retain the NXT Women's Championship. After that match, Eva Marie and Nia Jax attacked Carmella and then Bayley until Asuka came down to chase them away.

Eva and Nia cut a promo from backstage on the women. Jax would've won that battle royal if she was cleared. Eva says Asuka needs to stay out of their business, or else she will end up broken.

Tye Dillinger makes his way to the ring for the next match. Alex Riley enters next.

Tye Dillinger vs. Alex Riley

Tye and Alex lock up. Riley works the left arm of Dillinger. Tye gets out with a snap mare before chanting 10 in Riley's face. Dillinger applies a headlock, Riley clotheslines him. Riley places Tye in the corner for a chop to the chest. Riley covers Tye, kickout. Riley puts Dillinger in an arm/headlock until Tye rolls Alex away from him. Tye takes Alex down and unloads with punches. Riley catches Dillinger with a right hand. Riley goes for a move when Dillinger rolls him up for the win.

Winner: Tye Dillinger - by pinfall (3:13)

Finn Balor is backstage for an interview. He gives credit to Apollo Crews for their main event match from two weeks ago. Balor then discusses Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe. He knows that both men want it badly, but he will be waiting to defend the NXT Title.

William Regal is in his office when Baron Corbin walks in. Corbin demands to be put in tonight's main event. Regal says because he lost, his decision is final. Corbin says he believes in an eye for an eye, especially when it comes to stealing. Corbin walks out.

Next week - American Alpha vs. Blake & Murphy

Samoa Joe makes his way to the ring for the main event. Sami Zayn enters next.

#1 Contender's Match: Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn

They start to lock up but Joe kicks and Sami ducks. They lock up, Zayn works the left arm. Joe reverses the hold, twisting the left wrist of Sami. Joe takes Zayn to the ropes, chops across the chest. The crowd chants for Sami while they are staring at each other. Joe and Zayn lock up again, headlock on Sami. Joe runs the ropes and runs into an arm drag from Zayn. Joe applies the standing headlock again. Zayn pulls the rope down, allowing for Joe to fall out. Zayn goes to run out, but Joe moves and Sami does a back flip.

Joe kicks Sami in the left leg a couple times. Joe corners Zayn for a few punches. Joe whips Zayn, Sami jumps over him and does an arm drag. Joe catches Sami and slams him out of the corner. Joe throws a few forearms to the face, taking Zayn down. Zayn gets to his feet and they chop and punch each other until Joe sweeps Sami's legs out from him. Joe hits a snap suplex, cover. Sami throws a punch but Joe quickly kicks him back. Sami struggles to get to his feet as Joe continues with punches.

Joe chops before Zayn fires back with clotheslines. Kick from Joe, another clothesline from Zayn. Sami nails the Blue Thunder Bomb after struggling to lift Joe. Joe hits an atomic drop, big boot, and the senton for a cover. Joe kicks and punches as Sami sits on his knees. Samoa Joe slaps Zayn several times until Sami takes Joe down for the Koji Clutch. Joe breaks free and hits a powerslam, cover.

They trade punches. Joe elbows and hits an enziguri in the corner. Sami catches Joe with an Exploder Suplex. Joe stops the Helluva Kick with a sleeper. Joe hangs onto Zayn in the corner until the four count. Joe places Sami up top, and he gets out of the Muscle Buster. Zayn connects with Helluva Kick. Zayn covers Joe and the ref counts three as both of their shoulders are on the mat.

Draw (14:13)

Drake Wuertz confronts the timekeeper about the decision. Zayn raises his hand as the ref checks on Joe. Drake lowers Sami's hand as Joe raises his up in excitement. Joe's arm is lowered too as the ref explains what happened. Drake talks to William Regal outside the ring. Drake's ruling is a draw.
