RAW Results January 26, 2015
From WWE’s studios in Stamford, Connecticut
Reported on by Kendra Bunyon For Wrestling News World
Raw in Hartford was canceled, but they will be working from the WWE Studios in Stamford, Connecticut.
Narrator talks about Juno, and how big the blizzard is. They show many weather report clips about the storm, and how we are getting plowed by snow tonight. A state of emergency shutting down the Northeast, Raw emanates from Stamford, CT.
Cole & Booker T
In the studio, they talk up the Blizzard of 2015. Booker T is a tropical person, doesn't like this. There's a traffic ban, so no one is allowed on the road, but the show must go on! They talk about the WWE WHC and how it will be shown in its entirety. Brock Lesnar is there tonight for an interview. Also, the Royal Rumble Match will be played in its entirety. Booker T talks up his return in 2011, and how it was a night to remember.
JBL is playing Al Roker for a while tonight. They show video from outside Titan Towers.
JBL is on the roof with a white board, drawing a stick figure and the sun. he's not wearing a winter jacket, only his suit, bit he's flushed quite red from the cold and snow. Cole asks what the weather is like out there.
JBL – It's 85 degrees, the barometric pressure is 28, the humidity is 40 degrees. Bring your sun screen kids, you're going to need it out there. If you're in Tahiti! I'm in Connecticut in the middle of a historic blizzard, I'm the only one outdoors. I've climbed to the top of Titan Towers with a cameraman and a Sherpa! There have been woolly mammoth found and fossilized the tundra in Siberia warmer than me right now. You want a forecast? You're going to see a Raw like you've never ever seen before in all of your life. Speaking of which, I care about mine, so this version of the WWE Weather Channel is officially off the air!
WWE WHC Match – Brock Lesnar (c) vs Seth Rollins vs John Cena
This is the WWE WHC Match from the Royal Rumble, and the results have already been posted on WNW, so if you haven't seen the match, please go check out what Sean wrote live Sunday night!
Winner – Brock Lesnar
Cole & Rollins
Cole talks about the lockdown in Connecticut. Rollins is with Cole.
Cole – First about bring The Authority back to power, and rewarded with a spot in the Triple Threat Match. Because of that, you thought you deserved a spot in this match.
Rollins – I think my performance last night at the Royal Rumble will speak for itself. If you don't understand that Michael. Not only did I deserve that match. I did everything I could to win that match and walk out the new WWE WHC.
Cole – Let's show some of the things you did do in that match last night. One of the highlights, the second of the two curb stomps to Lesnar. Did you think that one of these would end the reign of the Beast?
Rollins – You know, over the past month, I've put Brock Lesnar down with a curb stomp or two, so. It's put down everyone before, so I thought that two would absolutely get the job done.
Cole – They didn't put him down, so you launched yourself through the air, dropping an elbow through the chest of Brock Lesnar on announce, and leaving him with a broken rib, incredible. Did you think it was over then?
Rollins – The crazy thing about a Triple Threat Match is not only do you have to worry about the Champion, you have to worry about the other challenger as well. The only thing in my mind was to get Brock Lesnar out of that match. I was on the top rope, a place I'm comfortable, and Brock Lesnar was a million miles away, but all that mattered to me was putting my elbow through his heart and putting him out of this match.
Cole – And he was out of this match for a fairly long time, which led you to this move, which we thought had ended the match. This corkscrew moonsault on Cena, but Brock Lesnar would reemerge to retain his WWE WHC. How shocked were you when this happened?
Rollins – You said you all thought that was going to be it, I knew it was going to be it. I hit Cena with a curb stomp, he was prone, motionless in the center of the ring. I had it in my pocket, when I hit that Phoenix splash, as it's called, I knew it was over. I put Lesnar down with the elbow, I knew I was WWE WHC, it was over, I knew it.
Cole – What would happen if you ever met Brock Lesnar one on one?
Rollins – You know, I'll admit, I may have underestimated Brock Lesnar last night, but I think Brock Lesnar may have underestimated me as well. Brock Lesnar maybe the WWE WHC, but what he doesn't have is something I still do, a MITB contract Plan B!
Cole – It will be interesting to see what Brock Lesnar has to say, because Brock Lesnar will be live next. We thank you for your time.
Rollins – Wa, wa, wait. Thanks for my time? Brock Lesnar is coming out next? I'm not going anywhere Cole,if Brock Lesnar want to take my seat on this set, he's going to have to come kick me off it. (smirk)
Cole & Brock Lesnar
Cole – We are back with Raw from WWE Studios in Stamford, CT. Seth Rollins is still here, we are waiting the arrival of...
Brock Lesnar walks up.
Brock (off mic) – I believe you're in my seat.
Rollins – Alright.
Rollins stands up.
Rollins – Your chair.
Rollins dusts off the seat with his hand, then slams it backward, flipping it away, before stomping off. Brock rolls his eyes as people rush to right his chair for him. Brock sits.
Cole – Ladies and gentlemen, the WWE WHC.
Brock – I see somebody's a little upset, after he got his ass beat last night. I don't give a damn, it's all good.
Cole – Brock, congratulations.
Brock – Thank you.
Cole – On an incredible match last night. With your advocate, Paul Heyman. Brock, I'd like to ask how you're feeling doctors said you suffered from a broken rib.
Brock – That is true. Um, I have suffered from a lot of injuries in my career, but when it's time to win, I get through it, and that's exactly what I did last night.
Cole – Paul, let's go back to this incident with Rollins, you think it's because you're at odds with The Authority?
Heyman – At odds with? Who said we're at odds with The Authority? This is a mutually exploitative industry, like any other form of sports or entertainment. The Authority needs a box office attraction, to headline Royal Rumble, to headline WrestleMania, the answer is Brock Lesnar. The Authority has a problem with someone – Taker, Sting, John Cena – the answer to that, Brock Lesnar. As long as The Authority continues to pay what Brock Lesnar is worth, Brock Lesnar is for hire. We exploit them, they exploit us. Sometimes negotiations can become tense. It's business.
Cole – Best for business, as The Authority would say. Brock Lesnar has been on quite a roll since 2012, matches with Cena, Triple H, but perhaps the highlight at WrestleMania, as you will always be know as the man who ended the greatest streak in the history of WrestleMania, Taker's Streak. I'd like to remind the world of what happened at last year's WrestleMania.
Video clips of Brock Lesnar ending Taker's Streak.
Cole – Taker has made his career out of psychological warfare, mind games with his opponents so that they couldn't perform at a top level, but it didn't seem to effect you. How did you overcome the intimidation of Taker.
Brock – Same way I overcame all the odds stacked against me my entire life. Winning NCAA Heavyweight Championship. Winning UFC Heavyweight Championship. Winning WWE WHC. I respect no one at any time. I am the Beast, plain and simple.
Heyman – Why does any of this surprise you? Everybody's so surprised about last night. John Cena, the face of the WWE, so what? Seth Rollins, the future of the WWE, so what? This is a once in a lifetime athlete, no one has the credentials carried by Brock Lesnar. That's why I say his name like that. I don't throw it away like you do. It's Brock Lesnar because he's once in a lifetime, and what he brings into the ring each time he's in there. That's why his matches are can't miss. There's only going to be a few times in anyone's life that they're going to see this athlete compete.
Cole – I mean no disrespect to the WWE WHC. Mr. Lesnar, you're now on a collision course with the man who won the Royal Rumble Match last night, Roman Reigns will face you for the WWE WHC at WrestleMania.
Brock – Roman Reigns? I'm happy for him. Good for him. I hope he's up for the challenge, because I am. I'm on a roll baby. I'm like a steamroller. And when a steamroller's got momentum going, get out of my way people.
Heyman – What else you got?
Cole – WrestleMania.
Heyman – What about WrestleMania?
Cole – Can Roman Reigns stop Brock Lesnar?
Heyman – No. anything else?
Cole – No thank you.
Heyman – When you gonna talk to Roman?
Cole – Later on tonight.
Heyman – Here?
Cole – Yes.
Heyman – Huh.
Brock – Good, maybe I can meet this guy.
Cole – Coming up next on Raw, we are going to show you the Royal Rumble Match match to show you how Roman Reigns became the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar's WWE WHC at WrestleMania.
They laugh and talk. JBL is annoyed at being freezing. They talk about why they're in the WWE Studios in Stamford, CT.
Royal Rumble Match
Again, Sean did a great job of writing the live results for this match, and if you haven't seen it, and haven't read the results, please go read his results from Sunday night.
Royal Rumble Match Winner – Roman Reigns
JBL complains about being outside and freezing, that he could have been green screen. Cole mentions the Royal Rumble Match. JBL says Reigns coming of age in front of us last night.
Byron & Reigns
Byron – Congratulations winning the Royal Rumble Match, and ensuring your place in the WrestleMania main event.
Reigns – I appreciate it Byron, last night was incredible. Incredible.
Byron – Some believe that you're not yet ready for WrestleMania, especially against Brock Lesnar.
Reigns – Everybody's entitled to their opinion. The way I see it, I've never claimed to be the most experienced guy in the ring. I've always been able to react, to handle the deep end. That's how I learned how to swim. My father, down at the YMCA, scaling the wall, scared. He picks me up by the hair and throws me in the deep end. I go to the bottom, touched the bottom, and you know what I did? I scratched, and I clawed, and I swam as fast as I could and finally got that breath of air. (Showing Afa & Sika, The Wild Samoans. Sika is his father.) And you know what happened? I learned how to swim. That's how my wrestling career has been, I'm fine with being thrown in the deep end, swimming with the sharks. You have to be able to do that.
Byron – Let's talk about the crowd last night. Some say they treated you a little unfairly. Do you agree?
Reigns – As a little boy, picturing winning the Royal Rumble, going on to headline WrestleMania, I was obviously hoping for a warmer response, but I, we're just in the blizzard, in the cold right now, but is life fair? No! I learned that at an early age. Those fans paid their hard earned money to watch, so, the way I look at it, when you go in that arena, you can cheer and boo whoever you want, as long as I wake up, I show up and perform, and do my thing, I'm happy. Fair? Nobody's worried about fair.
Byron – Speaking about fair, there's critics who believe you were hand picked for success by the higher ups in the WWE.
Reigns – Alright, let's just look at it this way. If I was hand picked by the higher ups, I would have to say, thanks for the opportunity. But it's an opportunity, you still have to go out and capitalize, you have to deliver. No matter what happens, I have to go out there, I have to lace up my own boots, and go to that ring my myself. I have to perform. I have to deliver. Regardless of what happens, you get an opportunity, you have to take advantage. If it comes down to it, you're other going to capitalize, or, you're not. Only time will tell.
Byron – Last night during the Royal Rumble Match, you were incredible, to say the least. You eliminated both Kane and Big Show. But both them returned, put you in peril, and you had a little assistance from not just any WWE Superstar, you had assistance from The Rock.
Reigns – Well, when you're getting beat on by mammoths, who better to call on than family? You know, I've never really put that out there. I've tries to carve my own path, do my own thing, but one thing I'm incredibly proud of is my family. My father Sika, my Uncle Afa, my cousins Yokozuna, Rikishi, Umaga, Usos, The Rock's grandfather, Peter Maivia. That's where I'm from. That's the blood that pumps through these veins. (A picture of Peter Maivia on the screen.) I was born in this business, I was fed by the WWE. The greatest thing I can do is return the favor by my family. Want to know what I'm looking forward to? Performing at WrestleMania, headlining WrestleMania in front of my father. Nothing more special than that. You want to know what else I'm looking forward to? Meeting Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania. And also, meeting him face to face, tonight.
Byron – Roman, thank you for your time.
Reigns – Thank you.
They talk up Miz and how he will be on Sirens. JBL talks him up in a huge way. They go to video of Cena from Royal Rumble Fallout.
Cena's Royal Rumble Fallout
Cena – I was face to face with heading to WrestleMania. I tried to tell Rollins over and over again how Brock Lesnar is. I think the world saw Brock is his own entity. I can't fault Seth in the ring, and I gave it my own shot, I don't know who will stop Brock Lesnar.
Tom – What's next for John Cena?
Rusev grabs the mic, rants away. Cena pushes him. Rusev pushes back. They go forehead to forehead.
They will face off at Fast Lane in four weeks.
Booker T and JBL talk about who can beat Rusev, can Cena do it? Cole talks about Cena needing to win on Raw last week to keep his Royal Rumble spot, and get Ryback, Rowan, and Ziggler back in the WWE. Sting appeared again, stuck it to The Authority, and Cena got the win. Trip had a fit, screaming while standing on announce.
Trip challenged Sting to a face to face confrontation at Fast Lane.
Next will be the next inductee into the WWE HOF.
Cole talks up the WWE HOF, and how Macho Man is going in. TMZ announced earlier that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be inducted this year.
Arnold Schwarzenegger's HOF video.
Ambrose is staggering around in his gray leather jacket, opened, and a knit hat with a pompom on top! He pounds on a door, then comes into the building. His face is quite pink, but the snow didn't look too heavy then.
Byron & Ambrose
Tapping on the thermometer that's at 63 degrees, his hands red and shaking.
Byron – Dean, Dean, excuse me, Dean. How exactly did you get here from Hartford, CT?
Ambrose – Well, after last night, I wanted to clear my head, take a nice walk.
Byron – All the way from Hartford?
Ambrose – It's not that far!
Byron – You're not even even dressed for a blizzard.
Ambrose – Do you know who you're talking to? Last night I caught a ride from Philadelphia to Hartford. It's easy to catch a ride, because they love me in Philadelphia. And then I find out Raw, live, is emanating from here, the WWE Headquarters in Stamford. So I walked out in the blizzard, I stuck my thumb out, I hopped in the back of a pickup truck, I sat on a couple of bales of hay. I got off somewhere on 95, and I got into an altercation with a man at a gas station and nearly lost a finger, but we don't need to get into that. I picked up some sweet hiking boots and made it here to WWE Headquarters in Stamford. To prove a point to you, the WWE the WWE 'Universe' and the whole world, that my adventure here is not unlike the Road to WrestleMania, twists and turns, obstacles and dangerous conditions. (Dancing -) I love dangerous conditions. No matter what lies on the road ahead of me. No matter who, or what lies in front of me, I'm gonna make it to WrestleMania.
Ambrose pounds on the thermostat.
Ambrose – Still cold in here. I'm going to check this place out. (Wandering off.) Hey, you got any posters of me around here I can look at?
Byron looks concerned and confused after Ambrose.
Renee & Bryan
Renee – The man with me right now is one of the most newsworthy to come out of the Royal Rumble, Daniel Bryan.
Bryan – Hi Renee.
Renee – How you doing?
Bryan – I'm doing great.
Renee – it was around this time last year that you and the WWE 'Universe' banded together and put together something called the #YesMovement. Then brings you to WrestleMania and you win the WWE WHC. Tell me what the run was like for you.
Bryan – I mean, it was amazing. I've dreamed of being a wrestler ever since I was a little kid. With that, when you dream of being a wrestler, you dream of main eventing WrestleMania. The Authority never saw that as my position. Too small, look at his face, or, whatever. I didn't even get in the Royal Rumble Match last year, but power isn't what it seems to be. Like, the millionaires think they have the power, the billionaires think they have the power, but realistically the people have the power. Especially last year. The Authority didn't want to give me the power, but the fans did, they kept cheering, YESing, booing specific people, right? All to get me to have the opportunity at WrestleMania. When I got that opportunity, I won, and it was great. But not just because it was for me, but because it was for the fans. That was awesome.
Renee – You do it. You win the WWE Title, but then shortly after, you're brutally attacked by Kane, hurting your neck, and being stripped by The Authority. What was that moment like?
Bryan – Quite honestly, the whole thing was devastating. You dream of it for so long, you dream of this mountain top, and you get there, but all of it is taken. It's brutal. Plus, I feel like I let down the fans, because they put me there. But you can't feel sorry for yourself. I had to change my state of mind. I have to come back. I have to get healthy. I have to win the WHC for the people.
Renee – You're back on that path, but you were eliminated early on, and the 'Universe' was disappointed. What's your reaction to their reaction?
Bryan – The fans were disappointed that Reigns won. I was disappointed that Reigns won, but not because it's Reigns, but because it's not me. I've been thinking, the whole time I was injured that if I could get back for the Royal Rumble, I could win, go to WrestleMania with Brock Lesnar. What an opponent. He's the guy. I never lost that Title! He's the ultimate Goliath, and I'm the ultimate David, and this is the perfect story on a silver platter, and this is my opportunity. But, quite honestly, I failed. That's on me. Reigns saw an opportunity and he took it. I had the opportunity, but I didn't take it. Granted, I didn't have The Rock helping me out, the WWE never fed me when I was a kid, but Reigns took advantage of the situation. If he can make the same sacrifices that I've made, that Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose made. I have no doubt he can put on a great main event with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and put on a show.
Renee – Reigns is going to have so many obstacles in his path, but you have a very big obstacle in your path on Smackdown. You're facing Kane in a match you've never been in. How do you feel heading into a Casket Match?
Bryan – It definitely favors Kane. He's a monster, and has won these matches before, but I'm not going to be denied, and quite frankly, after last night, I might have a smile on my face, but I'm mad as hell. I am. I'm pissed off! I'm gonna do anything my body, my heart, will allow me to do. I'm going to end this thing with Kane. It will end on Thursday for me to go on to be WHC.
Renee – Well, thank you so much for taking the time to come out here to Stamford, and the best of luck to you on Thursday.
Bryan – Thank you.
Cole & Brock & Reigns
Cole announces both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns who are almost face to face, their knees close to touching as their seats are so close together.
Heyman cuts Cole off, and offers congratulations to Reigns, and a hand shake. Reigns shakes Heyman's hand.
Heyman – I've always respected you. I respect your accomplishment last night. It might be impromptu, but do you mind if I ask the questions here tonight? With all due respect.
Reigns – I've got nothing to hide.
Heyman – Some would say that's your first mistake, but that's okay. (To Cole) Would you excuse me, please?
Cole gives up his seat.
Heyman – I asked Brock about this before, because we heard what you were saying. I think you know this, from the heart. I've known your family, you've known your family. I have know your father since I was a little kid taking pictures, with his brother Afa as WWE TTCs, and I always respected them. I took Yokozuna's first publicity pictures. I managed your Uncle Fatu, before he was known as Rikishi. Standing with him, way before the show began, in the Omni, bringing his two sons, Jimmy and Jey down to the ring for the first time, and watched your cousins, now known as the Usos, climb to the top ropes and hit frog splashes on each other. Without ever entering a wrestling ring, everything about your family is like a bird to air, a fish to water. It's in a Samoan's blood to go into the ring. I've known you since you were a little boy in Pensacola. Your dad was wrestling in arenas down there. I'm awfully proud of what you accomplished last night. I also know Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. But, more importantly, The Rock knows Brock Lesnar. Here's a part of your family history that's not told down to the next generation. Because in 2002, The Rock ruled the roost around here. The Rock, like Brock is now, the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE WHC. Laying the smackdown all across the globe, the one, top guy. Everyone's fantasy was that it would last forever. Until that fantasy ran into the reality, in a new guy, like you're the new guy, the next big thing, like you're the next big thing, in a rookie by the name of Brock Lesnar. When that rookie Brock Lesnar got his hands on The Rock, Brock Lesnar took, at will, the WWE WHC away from The Rock. Surely you remember their epic rematch on PPV, you don't. You can't. Because The Rock never asked for a rematch with Brock Lesnar. Because one match with Brock Lesnar was all The Rock could handle. That's the one thing I don't get that The Rock doesn't tell you that you're going up against at WrestleMania. Why? A family member. With respect, your blood doesn't tell you, not just who you're fighting, but what you're fighting. I get it, you're the one to beat the one in 21-1. My question, sir, Roman, with all due respect, how are you going to handle disappointing your family, when you lose to Brock Lesnar, because you can't beat Brock Lesnar. Not today, and certainly not at WrestleMania. How are you going to handle that disappointment when you lose in the main event at WrestleMania?
Reigns – With all due respect, I'll answer that to Brock Lesnar.
Reigns stands, turns his chair fully facing Brock, and sits again. Brock smirks at Reigns.
Reigns – I know who you are. I know what you are. And I know exactly what I've signed up for. I don't think you do. I'm gonna beat you at WrestleMania. I'm gonna take that Title. You know it. I know it. If I can't, I'm gonna take a piece of you with me, and I believe that. And so should you.
Brock drops his smirk, bounces to his feet, but Reigns is on his feet to greet him. Face to face, chairs sliding back. Brock puts a hand out, Reigns shakes it. They both hold on.
Brock – Unlike him (Heyman), I don't respect you.
Reigns – But you will.
They both stare deeply into each others eyes.
Booker T says it's time to step up. Reigns won the Royal Rumble, it's his time to show what he's made of. JBL says for the first time Reigns looked into the eyes of the beast, but we are on the Road to WrestleMania. That was awesome. Cole says that after what we saw last night, he doesn't know who can beat Brock Lesnar. JBL says he might be unbeatable, hold the strap until he retires.
Cole thanks us for watching this special Raw tonight. Everyone in the northeast, please be safe, our thoughts are with you. Goodnight.
I want to say the same from us here at WNW. This storm is supposed to be the biggest and scariest that we've seen in many years up here. Please, stay home, stay safe.
