Rumors are swirling about WWE possibly signing several names from New Japan Wrestling.
The names include Doc Gallows, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Shinsuke Nakamura. We were told the interest [from WWE] is very strong on all of the names but haven’t been able to confirm any actual deals. As the story goes — several, if not all of the aforementioned workers — gave their notice to NJPW and the assumption is WWE was offering them contracts.
At the same time we were getting this information, it was also reported by Dave Meltzer at F4WOnline.com.
I can add that TNA Wrestling was hoping to sign either AJ Styles or Karl Anderson for Impact’s live premiere on Pop. Anderson was more receptive than Styles but wanted to come in as a tag team with Gallows. We have more on that - along with their dates for Ring of Honor - in a Premium update available at this link.
We'll continue to see what else comes of this but it'll be interesting if WWE swooped in and secured any of these names, especially at a time when TNA was hoping to get at least one for use on their Pop debut.
